Amex CLI Question

Hey gang, my last cli approval was November 6, 2014 so tomorrow marks 6 months. Anyway,does it make a difference at what time one requests the cli, or is it that once the date changes to the 6th, it doesn't matter ??? So for instance, can I request it over the phone at some point past midnight tonight ???

Request it on day 181.

Request it on day 181.

Ok I just double checked, the 181st day is tomorrow, May 6th. So once the clock hits midnight tonight I can do it ???

i would just do it when you wake up in the morning because if it's midnight for you but 11 pm for amex then you need to wait 90 to reapply after your denial

I read that if the denial is because you try before 6 months, it doesn't reset the clock and you can try again after a few days when the time is up. If they deny the request with other reason, then the wait is 90 days.

I started hitting the button about a couple of weeks ago just for fun. The message would come up saying "too early" basically. I actually had lost track of the exact date of my last CLI.

When I chatted with an AMEX rep about the exact date of my next 3X she basically told me 181 days from the chat date because I apparently called for the wrath of the AMEX god by playing with the CLI button and that now I have pay for my sins and suffer in no CLI dungeon. What an utter POS. Anyway I managed to get my last CLI date from her and tried on the 181-st day again, in the evening, and got the limit I asked for (2.5X)

so, since they no longer have the 61 day rule and i requested for 3x a few days ago and got the 7-10 day message (i've had the card since 03/13/15), should i still wait 90 days?

There's no should. You need to wait 90 days.

Nowadays they seem to send an email where you click the link, go to a pseudo-account, verify your DOB etc and get the decision then and there. Takes about 5 minutes after the 2-3 or 7-10 days message to arrive in your mailbox. DId you get that?

If either that, or the physical mail says you simply applied too early, you could apply again as soon as the initial wait period is up. If they say your credit profile is not suitable, give those 1-3 reasons, name of the credit bureau and possibly a score, you're stuck with 90 days wait.

You never know, a CLI might be waiting for you as well, when you see the decisioning. (Who invented "decisioning" by the way?)

It's an online account which is secure and linked to you but you can't access it unless Amex sends you a decision email. I've got them the last few times I tried, including when I was successful.

As a followup it went through successfully. I moved 9k to the Starwood and now have 10k on that and 15k on the Everyday Preferred
