AMEX Maximum Credit Limit?

I'm just curious...I currently have a $30K limit on my Everyday card and I want to know the maximum that anyone has seen on one AMEX? Just wondering if I should push for more soon?

I don't know about a limit, but I do know that the higher you go the more likely you are to be requested tax documents or a full blown financial review.

Did you have to provide a W2 to get a 30k limit?

I didn't have to provide any documentation for my 30K limit with AMEX or any creditor for that matter

I think amex is one of those lenders where the sky is the limit as long as income supports.

Once I got a high limit at one creditor the others seemed to follow when I asked for a CLI

I believe as another posted stated as long as your income can support it, their is no persay lmiit on what you amex can go up to..

I also didn't require any documentation for my $30K Amex limit. I work at a large University and we outsource our employent verification to The Work Number, which is an Equifax business. So American Express would probably have no trouble verifying my income without ever contacting me.

No, I didn't have to supply any documentation for $30K and I would have no problem providing it for any amount. I'm just curious on how high they go.

How did you get your limit? Was it an instant approval at this limit? Auto CLI? You requested a CLI to get it there? If you don't care about submitting documents etc and you want a credit line increase there is no harm in asking. Amex will give much higher credit lines and you are no where even close to the max of their limits. People run millions through amex.

Amex don't check The Work Number as far as I can see (no INQs reported).

I'm surprised CCC's don't check it. But then again it won't include partner income, investment income, etc.

Why? Is $30,000 not enough?

I would be upset if the company I worked for provided my private info to a public source being the work number.. I don't know how companies can do this to employees. I work for an private university as well and would leave if they choose to share this info.. With that said I would provide my tax documents to Amex.. I just don't find it right for a company a person works for to provide this information to a data collection agency with personal information attached without employees permission.

Of course it isn't. The curiosity of just knowing how high one could go is all.

I haven't put a dent in $30K.

I asked for my $30K limit and was instantly approved.

I went from like 11K starting. To 22K To 30K. So 61 days from 11 to 22 and then 6 months from 22 to 30. I requested 30, didn't want to go over that.

With Amex, there cap is dependant on you, income and spending. I have seen limits upwards of $75k, not either of mine though, and not have to provide financial documents. I have also seen people at $25k have to go through a financial review. How they determine this, I have no idea.

If you're ready to supply finanncial documents and have use for higher CL then, go for it ask for what ever credit line you need.

My management company uses The Work Number as well. I will say it's useful for things like loans. I'd be upset if CCC's and everyone else could just look at will, but that isn't how it works. Plus, CCC's probably don't look at it, because it wouldn't be the full financial picture.
