What cards would you get in my position?

Hi! Im looking to get some card recommendations. I'll list below the cards I have currently and my scores. Im interested in travel rewards and cash back.

My Current Limits

QS One $300

WF Secured $300

Khols $300

Cap-1 Mastercard $300

My current scores are TU 649 EX 626 EQ 633

Any recommendations will be much appreciated!

Honestly, in your position I wouldn't seek more cards. I'd build history with what you currently have and attempt to address any negatives on your credit reports.

How long have you had your current cards? Have you tried for a CLI with capita one?

I've had all of my cards for a year and some a couple months shy of a year. My AAoA is 1 year and 3 months

I'd say your best bet at this point is to grow what you have. The qs1 gives you a very reasonable cb albeit the annual fee. When are you due for your credit steps on your cap one cards?

As far as I can tell I dont see that I am in credit steps. Should I maybe talk to their customer service?

Credit Steps is the program they may put you in when you apped for the Cap-1 cards. Its the program that may have said you qualify for a 700 CL and you will get that in 5 ot 6 months of on time payments. CSRs can confirm if you are in credit steps. Also let these members know your file will be clean when you app for the new credit.

If you have no baddies and relatively llow INQ on your TU, I don't see why you can't app for Barclays. Their rewards card for good credit is great!

So an update I called Capital one and they said that I'm not enrolled in the credit steps but said I can request a CLI online or over the phone.

I was reading that the CLI request for Cap-1 is a soft pull. Should i try that?

Yes. If you don't get it, Google Cap One CEO and send him an e-mail slong with a phone number telling him you want an increase on 2 year old cards.

What are the balances on them?

i think its going to be hard getting higher trade lines with your current cards only being at 300...i would look into your local credit union or maybe nfcu if you have a family member in the military and if you can get a higher trade line others will follow with cash back cards as well with travel.

I did the credit limit increase on my QS One and they raised my credit limit to $400. On my Cap-1 mastercard they are sending me something in 2-3 days. My Cap-1 Mastercard has a $0 balance and my QS One is reporting a $11.98 balance to which i paid for today. I will have my utilization below 10% before my statement cuts on the 13th

Did you continue making all your payments on time for the QS1? I dont understand why they wouldn't have put you into the credit steps program. Also confusing as to why they only raised you 100 bucks after having the card for awhile and making good payments on it.. Do you use the card enough?

Ya I've never had one missed payment on any of my cards. I've had very high util until just recently. Im using it more now that I understand how to effectively use a credit card.

Hmm, I'd try calling them. 100 is nothing. Tell them that you want to use the card as your everyday purchase card but with a 400 dollar limit that's just not possible.
