From Nov, 2014 until May, 2015, about 5.5 months, I've gotten a new mortgage, luxury car lease, and opened 30 cards (10 business, 20 personal) for a total of $156,000 in cards. Scores in mid 700s, salary six figures. This includes Amex x3, Chase x3, BofA x 2, Barclay x 2, Cap1 x 2, USAA x 2, USBANK Cash+, PenFed Platinum Rewards Visa, Discover IT, Walmart MC, Paypal MC, Lowes, Home Depot, Office Depot, Exxon, Shell, Conoco, Overstock, Equality, Amazon Commercial Line, and already had a local credit union card. Not to be rude, or arrogant, but I think I may hold the record here. I run every possible thing through cards, rotate them, and PIF everything, util stays 1-2% monthly (can't always keep track of when cards report). It's a good hobby, but I've spent a lot of time reading and researching, applying, reconning, making some mistakes, etc. One thing I cannot seem to do is to crack Citi. They will not have me, no way no how, except for the gas cards and Home Depot. Even wrote a recon to EO and spoke with assistant to president. "Too many Inquiries". Really do need to cool it for a while. AAoA is 7months now ;-( but in about 5 years should be bullet-proof. Plan is to wait a while, get SP CLIs, try to get APRs lowered, and aim for difficult cards like Simmons, UNFCU, Iberia, etc. Ultimate goal is less cards, higher limits, and 250,000 total available. Want a PLOC, also. Must. Crack. Citi. Oh, and my dream card is a Diner's Club. I hope they open up again some day, and hope they still pull TU only. Thanks to MyFico for all the great advice and information. Knock on wood, no AA. Thing is if it did happen, I'd be ok.

with all of the posts about AA lately, I'm wondering how many large portfolios have NEVER experienced AA.
By large portfolio, I mean more than 15 cards aquired in a 2-3 year span.
I'm actually surprised that hasn't happened to me.
I have been chastised by CSR's quite a bit lately for my available credit and open accounts.
Quite frankly I wouldn't care too much about AA unless it was Chase or Barclay.
Yeeeeeeaaaaahhhhhh.......uh huh......I know

I have never been chastised by CSR's but then again I rarely call them except for chase but as a CSP card holder Customer service is always top notch.

Since entering prime ville, I haven't done more than 2-3 cards in a 6 month period, typically with in a day or two of each other, so they really can't tell that I have gotten another card recently.

no other AA, except after carying a balance too long (had a CLD from 7.5k to 6k CL, with AMEX in my first year.

I have added 9 accounts with 7 HP's since February, so not a super large increase. However my limits have gone from around 6k total to just over 100k as of this morning. My Util is under 10%, with a couple cards at 30% for the 0% APR. No AA but I have seen a few CLI's, mostly from Discover. However I had very few HP's before this, and I had 49 accounts on my report (AAoA was just over 5 years) with only two 90 day lates from 6+ years ago on two student loans. Once I dropped my Util in December/January my scores were around 780, they hover from 750 to 780 or so now.

Some profiles may see AA when adding 3 new accounts in 6 months. Some, 30.

agreed...but Im done pushing the limits...Im actually exacuting my plan of closing some store cards over the next year. I actually sat down, and made a chart on which ones to close and when, lol.. 1 synch/1comm each time.

Now if C1 will agree in the future to combine limits, then there goes 4 right there, LOL!!

Honestly if I were you i'd combine your C1 limits to two cards and not 1 megalimit card. Once you break 700 I think you're safe keeping one megalimit card with them.

Thats funny you said that because I had thought about doing that. if I did, I would have 2 cards at $25k each, probably more appropriate for my credit profile.

AA is preceeded by a perceived risk that is too great for the creditor considering it. If you keep your utilization low and dont make large out of character purchases running up debt it a short period of time there is no risk to the creditor and therefore no AA.

So until November 2014 I was totally ignorant to the CRA or anything about credit scoring and would love to know what my FICO was all these years. I had a CapOne maxed at $16,500 - AMEX at 14,500 and a closed Chase VISA with a $5k balance. I had a few misc cards and my total CL was about $40k. When I had a fortunate thing happen in my life that I suddenly could pay them off I closed all but the CapOne card AND voluntarily decreased my CL to $8k on the card (kick me now). Anyway I started reading about credit scoring and now completely hooked on this. I opened 14 new cards since January (two I never activated and closed right away) and 11 new cardssince April, with total CL of just over $80k. I keep my utilization no more than 2% and so far never been told I'm close to AA. The only rejection that I couldn't recon was a stupid gas card with First National Omaha. In the other recons that did work they were saying I had a lot of HP and needed to stop because I was making them nervous. So, if it hasn't happened to me yet, I think we're all pretty safe.
