Question about AMEX Delta Gold Benefits

This question has been asked here before but there seems to be conflicting opinions and the replies were a few months old so I thought I'd ask again to see if there was any updated info.

I'm flying tomorrow on Delta and wanted to use my AMEX Gold Delta for my free checked bag. The thing is, the ticket wasn't purchased with the same card . Can I still show my card at check-in and get the first checked bag for free? Also, is this just for myself or can others on the same reservation use this? I thought it was just for one person but I saw one post that said multiple people on the same reservation could receive the benefit.

It should be regardless if you used the card to buy the ticket. I get the early boarding benefit through my SkyMiles account, because I think that knows that I have the AMEX card, and all my flying is paid for with my company AMEX, not my Delta card.

And multiple people on the same reservation should get the checked bag benefit. (I may already get this one for the same reason, just don't think about it)

As long as you have your credit card saved to your SkyMiles profile and your SkyMiles account number is associated with your reservation - you will be ok. Also, upto 9 passengers on the same reservation will receive the free bag benefit.

3. Benefit is limited to Basic Card Members (not Additional Card Members) with the Gold, Platinum or Reserve Delta SkyMiles Credit Cards. Reservation must include the Basic Card Member’s SkyMiles number. Fee waiver also available for passengers traveling in the same reservation as the Basic Card Member. Maximum nine waivers per reservation. Waiver is only for normal bag fee, if any, for the first checked bag that is not overweight and not oversize under Delta’s applicable rules as set forth in Delta’s contract of carriage. Additional checked bags will be subject to the applicable baggage fees as outlined by Delta’s rules and the purchased fare as set forth in Delta’s contract of carriage. The first checked bag fee waiver will only be applied on flight segments which originate on a Delta or Delta Connection® carrier when you check-in with Delta for both a Delta marketed and Delta operated flight. Codeshare flights are not eligible. New Card Members and Card Members upgrading from another Delta SkyMiles Credit Card product will be eligible for the checked baggage fee waiver benefit after receiving their Card from American Express. Offer terms and conditions subject to change. Additional restrictions may apply.

Good to know guys, thanks. Slightly off-topic, but I wonder if Aviator and Citi AA is the same in this regard. Anyone know if the checked bag is complimentary is you don't use those cards to pay for the ticket?
