Do I have too many credit cards?

I am 19 and I have 9 Credit cards already read my siggy for the limits. I feel like because I am 19 and have 9 they will eventually lower my score for having too many. My total utilization is at 0.08% right now...

No, you're fine. Just age them. I have significantly more and there are others who make our numbers together added look like a dwarf number. If you feel like you've expanded too much, feel that emotion and choose to not apply for more. Don't close things unless you find that they really aren't useful and you won't use them in the future, either. Fingerhut, though, I would think would be an easy cut.

You're fine as it sounds like you know more than 99.9% of people your age! Just keep using them wisely and perhaps close that Fingerhut.

Keep your utilization low and your score will rise. I had more than you when I was your age. But you seek very responsible.

I say keep them. When I was 19 I was not responsible with credit at all and I have over 9 credit cards all maxed out. From what I have learned I am not happy about it but it but I have corrected my mistakes.

You can only have too many if you are carrying balances on them or they have annual fees that aren't worth the benefits. Since neither of those appears to be the case, you are fine.

Yeah I would get rid of the fingerhut card. I didnt know that company existed but you should get a nordstrom card instead for clothing items...

702 Equifax Fico 710 Trans Fico 693 Experian Fico. No more mastercards though that is my least favorite type of card.

Why would you turn down the MC version of TJMaxx if you actually shop there?

Whether it's a MC or VISA doesn't matter as long as it works.

You shop at TJMaxx, then apply for the card. If you're lucky, you get the TJMaxx MC version which you can use at TJMaxx and anywhere else in the world that accepts MC. If you are unlucky, you will get the store card only version which can only be used in TJMaxx stores.

I have the TJMaxx card as well and they give you 5 points per dollar spent at TJMaxx and Marshalls (Home Goods and Sierra Trading post too but I don't shop those)
