What were your first 3 cards?

I've been reading and it seems that in order to maximize the FICO scoring potential, you need to have atleast 3 cards. Since I only have 2 right now, I wanna know where people stood when they were in my spot. So lets hear it; what were your first 3, and how long apart were their apps?

Well, my first 3 cards were in the 1970s, so they really wouldn't apply today: Sears, Boscov's and a VISA.

My cards I mostly had in my adult life are Cap One VISA, AMEX and Home Depot.

Old Navy Store card, America Online Visa, and CapitalOne somthing-or-other.

Citi Forward in Oct 2011, New York and Company store in August 2013, and Kohl's store in April 2014.

AMEX BCP in September 2013, followed by CapOne QS1 then Discover IT

Wells Fargo College card, Valero gas card. Then I applied for the Discover it card and citi forward card on the same day.

I believe it was a Providian Visa card (1999). Then I got an Amex Green and Amex Blue card (2001 and 2003 respectively ). Those were my first 3 cards.

My first card was in 2013 and it was my Wells Fargo College cash rewards. They get a lot of flack here and I can see why, but for those that bank with them it seems like a great place to start and I'm more than happy with them.

After that I got a BofA Secured, but secured so that really doesn't count. Also I literally never used it and closed it about 6 months later though, wasn't all that happy with BofA.

Next cards where Capital One Journey and Discover It, happy with both. Discover gave me my highest limit at that time, which was awesome.

If you don't have anything from Capital One I'd definitely go for one of their cards, then maybe something from your bank or credit union, if you haven't already of course.

Secured Visa from local credit union, Capital One Journey, and Discover It.

Amex, Cap One, BofA and then the bad cards came. First Premier & First Savings & Merrick! Yes, they're closed now.

Now I'm kinda regretting applying for Journey. 3 HPs for a whopping $500.

Have had cards given to me by my parents at different times in the last 5 years or so, but only started getting cards on my own this year.

I'm 20 years old, and an employed student.

January 2015

Cabelas Club Visa $1,000 limit EQ 649 on app

March 2015

Amex BCE $5,000 limit EX 692 on app

Had a CLI from 2k to 5k on May 6th after two months. Could have done 3x, but didn't find it necessary. I'll go for 10k in another 2 months.

May 2015

Amex PRG will know EX once it comes in

All instant approvals. Credit Karma fako scores at 739 TU and 733 EQ.

First three cards in 1994 the week I turned 18 were:

sears store card, 300

mervyn's dept store card 300

Citibank student M/C 500

Those are like $1000 starting limits these days, no? LOL funny thing, clothes computers and tv's cost less now then 20 years ago which is what i ran them up on.
