Using my AMEX PRG for all purchases?

Would it be smart to do so? I am really trying to build my rep with American Express..Ive had the card for a few months now so I definitely want to start since I have my foot in the door finally. Would this be smart?

If you have the money to PIF every month, I don't see why not!

They *want* you to use your card.

Yeah I always PIF every month. I probably will use it. And plus, its a gorgeous card lol. Not using it for its looks though.

I'm not a big fan of the looks. Ok, I do like the looks of it, but the black numbers/letters partially rub off on this card almost instantly, making it look like crap. Amex should move to making their cards without raised lettering/numbers, like almost every other high end card these days.

That's why I stuck with the Delta Gold AMEX, rather than going with the boring Platinum Delta AMEX

Depends where most of your spend is? Maybe, maybe not a good idea

I just got my card last week.... I switched from using my nfcu visa to this card. I love the cash back but I love to travel more. This is my 1A card and the visa 1B

+1. And also what other cards you have and how you value MRs. If you are using them in a "bad" way, say for statement credit or gift cards, it's almost certainly a bad idea. If you transfer to partners and get great cpp value that way, using it for everything is probably fine.

So, if on a particular transaction, using a diffeerent card would give more in rewards, IMO it makes little sense to do this for something as nebulous as building a "relationship" with a global mega financial institution

Depends on your spend. You have to run the numbers for your spend and compare. You also need to consider redemptions as they impact point value but hopefully you did that before applying for the PRG. You really should have run the numbers for your spend before applying as well. Definitely do this for any rewards card you're considering.

I'm looking to start saving points to travel is my biggest thing. Transferring it to an airline or a hotel

Depends on what youi are spending on. I wouldn't recommend forgoing bonus categories on a different credit card just to spend money on your amex prg. I wouldn't really be concerned about building "rep" with Amex to begin with. You are not going to impress them with your spend. Just use the card as normal and PIF. I'd be more inclined to spend money on my revolvers in hopes of triggering an auto cli. With a charge card what is the point?

Yeah true. I really would like to get my limit up a significant amount on my DC so Ill focus on that. how is citi with CLI's?

I see no reason to increase their profits unless I'm rewarded via MR,cashback via the best options possible for me

Best card for best value based on my spending pattern

And everyone should asses that before

1) applying for the card

2) using the card
