Amex not letting me pay bill

I paid off my last statement balance and made charges of about $179 over the weekend. They finally all posted but when I click "Pay Bill" it says "there's no balance due at this time" and won't let me pay. I need to buy a plane ticket and don't want to be using up too much of my available credit (it's only $1000 CL) what gives?

Funds take time (why?) to process/clear so they don't restore credit limit until they are satisfied they got their money. Likely one to three days.

If the account has been open for less than 30 days they will only let you pay once.

This is good to know. I didn't know that there was a restriction on the amount of times that you can pay.

If you want to pay your bill down before your next purchase you can either call in and have account services take a payment or you can use your bank's bill pay option. Just went through the same thing with my new PRG.

I was wondering because when I pay mine the available credit for the payment is literally immediate.

the two don't add up my first payment showed up immeditatlly.

I think it's been over 30 days.....and I've made 2 payments since it's opened
