yes, the Merrill Lynch card is managed by FIA Card services which is a division of Bank of America.

The CS is great and when you apply for a credit line increase, after some aging, it says it will only be a soft inquiry and if they need more information, they will contact you to do a hard or obtain credit report.

I thought that was great and shows this card and service center is willing to get loyalty. The Merill Lynch card is currently my highest tl at a 9.9apr and no issues what so ever.

After, 3 months with the card I applied for Bank of America was processed and pending, called a account specialist, he saw the ML card and because of that approved me for 1000.00 BOA card.

If you already have BOA or want BOA then this is the card for you.

Hi Steve- What is the criteria for a ML card? Is it by invitation only and what scores did you have when you received that card?

I have the Merrill + and I really like it. Its my only credit card (I know I know, I'm workin' on it).

You don't have to be invited to get it, but my broker put in an application for me (which really helped considering I had no credit history at the time).

Its advertised as a good credit or higher card, I would guess 700 + scores to be sure.

On whogavemecredit.com all of the people who applied got it but most had 700+ scores. Two did have 685-690 scores though.

I would wait a little if I were you...unless you have a Merrill account.

Thanks for responding. I am in no shape to apply for a card like that, but it is good information to have for the future.

I applied for the ML card in January 08, I didn't know my fico scores then, but I checked the equifax score from Score Watch today and it is at 677.

Today, I applied online for and got the "total Merrill cash back" visa card and was approved for $8400.
Fico Scores are, as of today:
Tu--682
Ex--703
EQ--690

No baddies, only a federal tax lien that has been paid off this year.

Actually, today I applied for and got 3 cards. Discover more (pre-approved letter) don't know the CL yet, American Express Blue Cash for $2000 and this one.

The only others I have are a capital one for $1250 (since May) and one from 5/3rd Bank for $7000 that I've had since June.

I think I can rest easy now and let my scores climb for 6 or 9 months before taking out a small personal loan or something for another credit boost. (A good mix of credit.) My debt/credit ratio on my credit cards is something like 1%. Getting my first home in the first quarter of 2011. Shooting for 720. 750 if possible.
