AMEX BCP CREDIT LIMIT INCREASE AFTER APPROVAL

Hello Members,

So i was approved for the Amex BCP a few days ago but on the application reported 70K annual income (Last year tax return). I was instantly approved for 6K, but year to date I've already grossed over 70K for this year, and should be on pace to pass 150K. Would i be able to request a CLI via speaking to a rep and showing my past few months paystubs? I've read a lot of content saying it may be based on income and that the 60 day rule may no longer apply. Anyone have any luck?

By the way my EX FICO is 753

Cap One Secured $2300

Amex BCP $6000 (recently approved)

Total Credit history is only 9 Months.

Reason being, IF i do get approved for a 3x CLI, i would like closer to 25K rather than 18K. Thanks for any help in advance!

I highly doubt they would give you more just on your income alone. You have a short history at the moment. They will tell you to request the increase but will get denied if you go over the 3x

Wait for your card to arrive. Activate and request the 3xCLI via online. it worked for most ficoers here. I m going to try the same when my Amex ED arrives next week. good luck for you.

Thanks for your input, now I'm wondering if I would have gotten a higher initial approval if I just put 150K on the application.

Wondering won't get you anywhere. It is what it is. You got approved for what you got approved for.

I would agree with the above poster. You are unlikely to get a huge increase right now. You just got approved for the card. Amex approved you for what they felt comfortable with.

Wait a few months, use it responsibly, then go for a CLI. Showing a responsible usage pattern is much more likely to yield results. There is not always a "quick fix".

Some have been known to get an increase immediately. I suggest the OP be prepared to send in documents to prove income if they want a larger SL. I did just this 7 years ago.

Keep in mind if declined you have to wait another 90 days. Anyway, good luck.

While I understand posting success, it doesn't really necessarily mean much for future applicants as credit profiles differ and just because you may be able to get a CLI after x amount of time doesn't mean they will, too. It can be dangerous to rely on "trends". Nonetheless, good luck.

You call and pull back the CLI request and try again.

Ah I see, i just figured my credit profile is considered extremely "thin" and also very short term and figured if anyone has something similar but with more tradelines, they might have a higher chance of approval. But thanks for the goodluck, will post updates

It is not uncommon for Amex to do 3x right away. Give it a try. Buddy of mine last month started with 7k and he requested. They bumped him to 20k, no questions asked!!

My wife was recently approved for OBC@9k, upon activation we cli'd to 25k.

This was about 3 months ago, go for it.
