What card should I get as my first credit card?

I have a credit score of 671. My only credit history in the US is a car lease that I've had since over a year.

What credit card should I get? I was thinking about Chase Freedom. What are my chances of getting approved.

Welcome to the forums. Hate to be blunt and don't want to sound rude but your chances of getting approved for the Freedom card is very low if not impossible. Chase wants to see credit card history for at least six months. Your best is to check Capital One preapprovals. If not that, you may have to go the secured card route to establish cc history.

but they have a lease history and since we are talking about chase.... Go to chase.com and check for pre-qualified offers.

Maybe choose to skip if you have no pre-qual offers but if you have offers you have a 99% chance of an approval!

I would do the same thing at Capital One, Citicards, and American Express!

My suggestion would be to apply for a Capital One card.

Capital One is user friendly, after 6 months gives you credit limit increase, excellent to build and grow with.

I followed Creditaddict's suggetion to see what offers I pre-qualify for.

I got Chase Freedom, Chase Slate, CapitalOne Platinum, American Express Green, American Express Premier Rewards Gold, but no citibank card.

Don't you think it would be safer to wait a little between applications, because my already marginal credit score will take a small dump for the inquiry?

I'm guessing you have no recent inquiries. If that is the case, due to the great cashback promotion that starts Monday, I would suggest going for Discover It first. If that isn't successful, try for Cap 1.

and no I don't think the inq, especially like 3-4 are going to hurt you at all. and you want to open new accounts at same time so they can age together

Good news! I got approved for a Chase Freedom with $200 signup bonus and I also for a Discover It card. Thanks to everyone for the advice ,especially creditadict.

Thinking if I should get another card, American Express or Capial One.

Discover is a great first card to go for. Freedom is also popular but I think Discover It and Freedom are redundant to both have, especially as your first 2/only 2 cards. They are essentially the same card.

Capital One's Quicksilver is also a great option; typically, being newer to credit you'll have to apply for the Quicksilver One version ($39 AF) which you can later get the AF waived on (hopefully), or apply for a Capital One Journey (1.25% cash back) and later PC to a Quicksilver.

I had a sub-600 score so started with the $200 prepaid First Choice Bank Primor card which reports imediatly to all three CRA's. Soon my score went over 600 and I was able to get the $200 Capitol One MC with $99 down. Perhaps I will try this Chase Freedom card you speak of.

Capital One is "User Friendly" until you miss a pymt or default then they will hunt you until the ends of the earth for $500. User beware. Capital One sends me Platinum Card pre-approvals all the time. I would never ever use Capital One.

I had almost your exact profile last year. No credit other than auto. 672 credit score. Got the BoA cash rewards with a 1k limit.
