Easiest thing is to read the site less and go to other websites and do other things with your time that will keep your mind off this stuff.

You could also just freeze your credit reports which in essence make it basically impossible to app for more cards. Just will need to tremember o unfreeze once you need to app for a new card or any other reason that would require a pull on your report like getting a loan, cellphone carrier or perhaps a job?

Do some more reading in the forums, and you'll see how freezes are actually used - forcing lenders to look at other reports, and preventing HP's.

Freezing can have security uses but it is more often used (by people here) to prevent HP/apps when their willpower isn't strong.

While I get it, to me, it's a waste of money. If you find it impossible to not app, then your best bet is to get off of the site. Focus on other hobbies and interests. Maintain your cards responsibly and let them age. You can have good credit without reading a credit forum daily. It helps some and hurts others. If it's not helping you to stay in the garden, take a break.

This site does tend to make people more impulsive with apps.

If you can't stop yourself have no fear the lenders will put a stop to it for you as your credit completely tanks and lenders take AA. I would suggest joining the garden thread and making a game out of seeing how long you can go for without apping. If that doesn't work then I would recommend not coming to this site at all.

You really should do some research on credit freezes before you write another sentence on the topic. Freezes are used for more than identity theft.

+1 Honestly if someone needs to go as far as to freeze their reports to prevent apping then maybe they should not be getting credit cards at all.

Eh some people just love to app for that thrill. They are still useful tools if used correctly

There is no lack of ethics or fraud....freezzing your reports also isn't free. You should really research about it before you want to call it out.

Illegal? What are you talking about? It's not a hidden trick or anything. Anybody can freeze their reports for any reason. You Need to read up about it.

I'm sorry but I disagree about "apping for a thrill". It's not a game. It's your credit. Each account hangs around for ten years on there.

Sure, we've all apped on impulse once or twice. But to chase a "thrill" with apping? That's a bit too close to "addict who needs help or a break" IMO

There's nothing misleading aand if it was illegal why would they allow it to be spoken in this forum? You really need to read some more on it then because it's not illegal or misleading. If your reports are frozen how are you misleading a bank? They simply will decline you if they can't read your report.

I've never frozen my reports in my life, and I think the practice is perfectly acceptable. Credit games are a two way street. Lenders have more data on you than you can even think of, and if you want to do everything you can to limit that data, then more power to you.

So you tell me, what do I have to hide?
