What do you mean "it won't activate"? How are you trying to activate it? Online? Over phone? Did you talk to an agent and they couldn't activate it? Did they say why not (e.g. your information wouldn't match, etc.)? Please give us more details.

Why wouldn't it activate? Did you call them and what did they say?

they sercurity code wasn't working even though i was giving them the 4 digit code on the card. That was the problem and why it couldn't be activated. i tried to activate online and then via chat, i never call i won't deal with a company that prefers for you to call.

A lot of card companies deal with these types of issues over the phone. It's not unusual by any means. Perhaps Discover is the exception. Amex has one of the better customer service lines out there, and they are open 24 hours, so try calling them to see what they say. Posting about your woes on here without taking the logical next step to solve the issue doesn't really help the community in case they run into similar issues as you did.

I'm trying to see why you think some technical error you had with a credit card is indicative of declining customer servive. I don't see the logic. Plus they are expediting the new card, so its seems to me they are doing everything right from a customer service standpoint.

crap happens. i am baffled at your thought process. people get so gripy when something technical messes up. nothing is flawless. my amex activated just fine. so my experience and your experience cancel out.
also you prefer a company that makes their customers call them? umm in that situation, that's EVERY company lol.

only time amex should call you is to warn you of possible fraud or something pressing of the sort. your card activation isn't at the top of anyone's priority list except yours and the amount of complaining you're doing i hope you close it.

good day.

Nobody in doing anything ever has zero problem. That isn't possible. Sometimes systems mess up, and it happens to Discover as much as Amex as much as Chase as much as BofA. I have had to call Discover several times to get Discover Deals bonus cashback. So yes, systems are imperfect.

I cant see how a technical issue that is a one-off has any indication of Amex's customer service in decline. On top of that they elected to overnight you a new card. OP's comments makes no sense.

OP what you seem to be missing is that your post doesn't make sense for most people. Having a problem with activating a card has nothing to do with bad customer service. They offered an expedited shipping of the card which is a great gesture. Is it frustrating? Absolutely! However, it is an unrealistic expectation for technology to always work. I work in IT for the banking industry and I wish things our systems worked flawlessly 100% all the time but then I wouldn't have a job.
