Updated for 2015: Secured Credit Card List

I figured this may be useful for some others out there. The other lists floating around are over a year old and are fairly short, so I made a little more detailed list.

These are available nationally - that was the major criteria. I didn't want to get anyone's hopes up on a card that has a 3.25% interest rate that's only available to a very small segment of the population, heh.

The most interesting thing I found while making this chart was that the cards that offer rewards also tend to have a lower annual fee and tend to graduate. Makes those all the more appealing

Alaska, Washington, California, Alaska USA, 14.5 %, graduates between one and two years! must meet UW requirements for regular visa (no collection over 250), 1 reward point per dollar, score card rewards or travel, excellent travel benefits, can use almost 100% of card for cash advance @ regular apr if needed.

Sounds like a good card but since it's not available nationally I didn't add it. Is Alaska USA FCU was available with some kind of national organization membership?

Great list. One suggestion would be to add whether the card is HP/SP. Some are available with SP or no pull at all, but others require HP and could possible decline even if fully secured.

I haven't personally had the card but from all of the research I've done they send the pre-approval for one of their unsecured cards after a while (like the double your line card) but it's a second card, not an unsecuring of the original card. If someone has any other information about the card and if I find it DOES unsecure I'll update the list.

I have the sdfcu secured card, but it has two things you should know

It does not unsecure.
It reports as loan type: Secured Credit Card to TU. (often secured cards just show up as 'loan type: Credit Card')

I would add the other secured card I have from Andrews Fcu to the list. I prefer over the sdfcu one
- no AF
- reward points
- does not unsecure
- reports as normal cc

Yeah, you're right texasman07 - I thought I read you have to apply in branch for it and it's a regional bank so that would exclude about 4/5 of the nation BUT apparently I misread that because you can apply on the phone. I'll add it (and Andrews FCU) when I'm back ok my computer.
