Checked the mail today and my college freshman received a Blue Cash Everday from Amex offer. Oh, the days of credit card offers for college students with no or minimal income and sparkling credit reports. Thankfully, I've given her plenty of advice about how to keep her report clean, pay her bills on time (when she gets some) and use credit wisely. Here's praying she listens. Right now, she has not desire to even open the offers coming in.

Wish my parents had "the talk" with me when I was younger. Not blaming them though, since my choices are my own.

luckily my step father gave me "the talk" about credit

wasn't much though, "keep only 3 credit cards! don't just apply for mailed offer, wait for the right card with decent offer"

It can be a blessing or a curse, I was a college student in 1991 with no income and cc companiies throwing cards in my face...I was able to manage credit well, never missing a payment or even late on a single one....24 years later...820+ and going strong with any type of credit I want approved....life is good.

When I was that age, actual credit cards would just show up in the mail.

Maybe it's because I waited til later in life to go to college but I couldn't get approved for anything at 18. No offers came until I got my own credit rolling with a Cap1 secured. I am so thankful now for every offer because I will never forget how I wished I would get offers when everybody else was. I'm thankful that those offers never came earlier though. I'm sure I would've messed up my credit.
