CSP Goal app Freedom first? Also Citi Prestige/Premier?

So I'd like the CSP I've noticed in several places here that people are saying that Chase is stingy with both SL/CLI and that they look preferentially on those who have a "prior relationship" would it be better for me to app for the Freedom first, hold it for 6 months or so then app for CSP? Or will it not make much difference?

The same questions applies for Citi. I travel alot, I'd like the Prestige/Premier (I'd likely do the Citigold account as well for the bonus).

I've got scores at 710ish across the board (expect them to jump another 5-15 points shortly due to some actions taken). AAoA about 4 1/2 years, Utilization should be under 10% as soon as the system recognizes a couple of paydowns. I do have three lates on my report from last year, all my mortgage (calculated decision, didn't have another option, short term problem, long term gains, not an issue now) a June 2014 - 30, July 2014 - 60, December 2014 - 30. I know the lates are a major ding, I tried to avoid them when it happened but didn't have another option and made the calculated decision, I'm hoping I can explain them satisfactorily in recon if necessary. Income at about 200,000-250,000 depending on how I calculate. 9 EX, 12 EQ, 10 TU Inquiries in the last 24 months 90% of those are slated to roll off in September/October and are related to the Mortgage we took out then.

Would I even qualify? I'm assuming I would for the Freedom, but not sure on the others. I've got one card with a 10k limit on it others are below that.

I've got some major purchases coming up in the next couple months that would make it easy to meet the minimum spends, but they will mostly be international so the no FTF would be important.

That isn't true about having prior relationship... Most people don't have a relationship and still got approved for their cards. Have you checked the Chase pre-equal on their site to see if something shows up for you?

I checked it gives me the "we can't find any specific offers" here are some suggestions, it does mention CSP but I don't think it actually pulls anything for this (correct me if I'm wrong).

Can you screenshot of what it says if you don't mind? Chase does not make recommedations.. Either you are in or out. So kindly screen shot what you are seeing and I will give you an answer..

Woops, I gave the wrong message. Checked several sites today. You are right it just gives me "nothing" likely due to the fact that I turn prescreened offers off on my address (I travel a lot and didn't want to overwelm it, kind of regretting that decision right now)

No biggie.. I figured as much. Sometimes, people are not pre-qualified on the site but cold app. and get approved. Are the mortage lates the only payment? What other cards do you have and limits? Can you list them?

Treat NFCU right... Very good CU to be in with. What I meant was apart from those baddies, do you have any other late payments not related to the mortgage? Once, your credit file updates, you have a shot to get in with Chase.

But don't apply for 2 cards at once based on your profile. Chose between the Freedom and CSP to test the waters.

My only other baddie is set to roll off in September after 7 years, it's a 30 day on an old Kohls Charge card (account has been closed for over 5 years) it also only seems to be reflecting on TU also. One of those I thought I made the payment and didn't things years ago.

I never received a pre-quialified offer for any of the two Chase cards that I have and both of them were approved...

Definitely only go for one for now. Decide with your spend and income whether you can justify a CSP long term. Some people find they can't. You have to spend a decent amount and travel a decent amount as well to really get meaningful use out of it.

"Relationship" is overrated. If your profile supports approval, you'll be approved, regardless of whether or not you have a prior Chase account.

If you want a CSP and a Citi Prestige, you need to run even more numbers. It will take a lot of spend to justify both AFs as you can't physically use both as your "main spending" cards. Just keep these things in mind!

How about Citi are there requirements more or less stringent as a general rule? I noticed that they have partnerships with several airlines I fly very regularly that CSP doesn't.

The CSP starts with limits at 5,000 and nothing lower while you can get a limit on the Freedom at a measly $500. Different underwriting. CSP will take into account your experience with big limit cards which you have although the scrutiny varies from credit analyst to credit analyst should your application go in to pending.

But at this time, it comes down to which card will work for you best...

Exactly. Go for what suits you better vs what is more possible to get approved/higher limit for etc.

Sorry, I was kind of unclear I meant between Citi or Chase. If it won't make any difference at first definitely won't be applying for the Freedom right now with FTF it wouldn't be worth it. As I spend more time overseas than not these days.

Citi is a lot harder to get into than Chase IMO.
