So my DC was compromised last Friday. Called to get the card cancelled and a new one ordered. I asked if Citi would be willing to overnight the card and they said sure, with a $6 fee. I asked if the fee could be waived, since I have a $14k limit on the card and have had a relationship, of some kind, with Citi since 2010. The CSR transfered me to his supervisor. She was a surly person from Florida and I told her that I needed the card to buy early release concert tickets through Citis website on Tuesday (true story). I asked her if there was any way they could help me out and she, in an annoyed tone, said to me: "We don't give out credit card numbers over the phone, sir." I responded that all I wanted was to use my Citi card, to give Citi money, by buying concert tickets, through Citi. I told her I didn't want the card number, just the card overnighted. She responded that they had a backlog of overnight orders and couldn't even get me my card until Wednesday (**bleep**?), along with charging me the $6 fee.

I promptly thanked her for her time and hung up. I was basically telling them to take my money, if they could just overnight me my card by Tuesday. Pity that they seem incapable of even that. Oh well. I downloaded the LiveNation app and am able to buy early release tickets on Thursday instead. I'll just pay with Discover and give them my money instead. At least they're friendly!

tl;dr: CitiBank has poor customer service.

I had an annoying encounter with Citi as well. I called their backdor number to see if they would recon an app. I gave the lady my social and she took forever to pull the app up. She sounded older so I didn't hold it against her. Then I tell her which app I was calling in regards to and she's like "there's such so many apps on file its hard for me to go through them" really lady? It was like 4 in the last 3 months. So I ask if I could recon it and she's like....no......I'm like ooooook is there a reason why or??? She's like with the denial its not going to be approved. I'm like ?????? Her demeanor was so helpless like she wasn't trying to help me understand at all. I'm like so hold long should I wait to app again? She says "well we can't give away our procedures....." and with that I hung up. I was so annoyed and she wasn't at all helpful. Most people at least review t even if its gonna be denied

Sometimes, the world of credit cards is a luxury and there are certain expectations that come with it. I guess because the nature of it being a business offering a product/service, so we expect a certain level of service. Understandable. You just have to learn how to manuever around blockages and troubleshoot when expectations are not met, and after different interventions are attempted and still failed, I just give up and go to another service.

I think that any bank is capable of delivering bad customer service. Personally, I wouldn't hold this occurence against them. I could tell you some Capital One (the worst) and Chase (non-CSP line) calls that would certainly be more appalling. Citi's CS isn't.... Discover great; however, they have been able to address most of my concerns satisfactorily. Additionally, I always get an American based CSR anytime I call, usually Florida based as opposed to foreign. I value this a lot with any bank I do business with.

When my Citi AA Platinum Select card was compromised, the fraud specialist had one overnighted without me even requesting the service, so I'm not sure why they gave you a hard time with that. It is a WEMC, so I'm not sure if they feel more obligated to do so with those cards. The only annoyance I had with the process was that I had to call again because they transferred 2 of the fraud charges to my new account. All in all, Citi has been one of the better banks I've dealt with.

It is a WEMC, so I'm not sure if they feel more obligated to do so with those cards. The only annoyance I had with the process was that I had to call again because they transferred 2 of the fraud charges to my new account. All in all, Citi has been one of the better banks I've dealt with.

Very good point. In the last few days we've seen threads on how horrible the customer service is with Citi, Discover and I believe Chase. They're all capable of both excellent and horrible service and much depends on the particular CSR you were either fortunate or unfortunate enough to reach.

As everybody continues to talk about how great Discover is I think it is important to point out that they WILL NOT go to bat for you if you have a fraudulent charge. That being said they can kiss my butt over the phone and waive all the fees they want blah blah blah.I'm not going to risk using their products. When it comes down to it there are alot more important things in this world then what most of you guys consider to be "good customer service" when it comes to CC companies. I put the security of my money 1st and foremost.

Only difference was that I didn't want it expedited I just wanted the cards period after I lost my wallet.

Capital One 7 business days

Chase overnighted them without me asking

Amex 3 business days

Citi took 42 days saying that they lost them when I called in to question them they said they wil expedite them for 35 dollars.
