amex convinced me to close senior gold

I was approved for a 15K AMEX everyday card on 5/16 and had a backdated senior gold (1991). I never used it and didn't know what to do with it. I called retention and the lady politely told me I didn't need it and closed it. No counter offers, nothing. She said the new card would still have history because I still had an old card when the new account was opened. We shall see. Anyway, I save the $55 or $95 if I would have added the MR points. I thought about upgrading but the lady said I didn't need to. Interesting. The only AF card I have now is a 7K CSP opened this January. Down to 5 cards again. 5% utilization (0% on the new AMEX, $34K limit. Score was 675 exp when I received the everyday card. My score may go down considerably but I don't need anything else at this time. I'm not using the CSP now, just the ED for points offer, and I like doing business with AMEX. For all their issues, they have a corporate climate that I agree with.

Closing won't impact AAoA for many years, and the AF paid each year is real.
