Barclays combined my limts and closed one card! Yayyy!

Thank you everyone for just sharing your journeys because I would never have known what I know today. I have a Barclays Mastercard that I have had for about 2 years, I then read that if you have 2 cards with them you can combine the limits and close one card if you wish.

Since I have their Barclays Apple Visa also - I called today and they combined the limits- no credit pulls! Which is awesome I only have to make one payment monthly if I have a balance and the higher limit just makes my credit look better.

I shared this to thank everyone that shares their Journey and to help anyone else that might not know this. It helps to know the tricks of the trade!

You can choose.

I did the same thing in December with my $2200 Apple... I was approved for a $4500 Sallie Mae. I moved the Apple limit over to make it $6700 and closed the Apple which was 100% worthless beyond the initial 0% promo deal when I opened the account in 2013.

Yes you choose which one you want to keep and which to close.

I have the Apple Visa- which I am keeping open for now but will most likely apply for a Sallie Mae or Arrival towards the end of the year and move the limit from the Visa to the Sallie Mae or Arrival. Yes beyond the initial 0%, the card doesnt have the rewards that I want or need but I am using the account as one way to increase my limit - but it will be gone in time. Its serving a purpose for now

Thanks for posting! I just closed my worthless Choice Privileges VISA and rolled the limit into my Rewards Mastercard. Totally painless !

That's good to know, thanks! I have a Rewards card, which I like, getting 2% rewards on the things I use it for (gas, groceries & utilties, with alot of leeway as to what they code into those categories. Had $5700 CL, but apped for NFL in March, got a $5k SL but moved $2700 from Rewards as I wanted to do a $4500 BT 0% for 15 mos to payoff a Prosper loan. But what I realy want is Sallie Mae, so in a year or so when I payoff the BT I'll move the $7700 CL from NFL to rewards & close the account, then app for Sallie Mae. I don't think Barclays will let you have 3 cards. ,

I've had NFL, barclay Rewards and Arrival with barclay. So I believe you can have 3 cards. But like everything in life YMMV
