I'm just under $40K and I feel the $10.5K is enough for me. I've had a lot of stupid unexpected expenses happen lately (transmission blew, dental work, and normal day to day spend) and still haven't come close to my limits. I couldn't imagine having $50-$60K in credit debt. The key is not treating the limits like a second (or 3rd in my case) income.

However, anticipation of CLI's are fun. I used to collect sports cards so a CLI to me was like the anticipation of ripping a pack of cards and hoping to find that Tiger auto that everyone wants haha.

Would suggest you wait at least 6 statements, then call up and ask if there is a possibility of a APR decrease. They will transfer you to a specialist. Once speaking to the specialist, also ask if a SP (soft credit pull) CLI is available. I would then call every 2 months after that, and ask the same thing each time.

I know what you mean though. I was reading a thread this morning about a guy who was pissed he didn't get the expected CL from a company and because of that he's going to quit banking with them as a result of the less than expected SCL. He did have a great CS (750+), plenty of income, and for whatever reason he got a limit that I didn't feel was out of my reach. It made me appreciate the credit I do have because you may have all the requirements for this or that credit wise, but that doesn't mean a company is obligated to give it to you.

@Anonymous wrote:
yeah i was referring to dman23 lol. and honestly if you have enough credit to royally screw yourself if you max it all out then yeah.... you have enough lol. my income is under $30k a year and i have over $18k in credit... if i maxed it all out i would be completely screwed. i don't complain over CLI. they aren't hand-me-outs...

Wow we're pretty similar.
