Need some guidance here. Currently have (3) cards with Chase. First is the Marriott Premier Rewards which I got 11/2014. Next was the Ritz card in 12/2014, and finaly my CSP 4/2015. I currently find myself not using the Ritz card at all now and wanted to get advice on moving the limit from the Ritz to the Marriott card. The largest majority of my monthly spend is on the Marriott and CSP.

First, is this too soon to make such a request?

If not then does anything like this spook Chase given I don't have 12 months with them yet?

I'm really trying to pare down the CC's I have gotten. I am guilty of "app addiction" and want to siimplify things. I have successfully now obtained cards with WF, Amex, Citi, Chase, and BofA and ready to call this a game over and let these grow.

I don't think its too early. I've moved limits with just having an account opened less than a month without an issue.

no it's super easy, you just call in and ask to move them... they may do a sp just to check nothing major is going on since you got the cards but otherwise they just move them right over.

Though my accounts are not new, I just did something similar. Transferred the bulk of the balance of my Chase Slate to another card, it was simple. They required keeping $500 in the Slate account, even though I was closing it...go figure. But the process is simple and they are very accommodating.

If you got the bonus say 140k points and close it already and move the limit they are not going to be to happy with you, but they won't hassle you about moving the CL and closing the account. They will do a SP on you, but just keep in mind Chase is getting more up tight lately, whether that flags you in their system is anyones guess and just speculation.. Just weigh your options, but they certainly will move your CL's for you

They will move limits with pretty much no problem, though I'd advise against doing it on a card you just opened. The more people Chase sees doing that kind of thing the more likely they will alter their policies IMO. But you have to do what you want to do.

Take bonus of 5-7 night, hotel credit aka 140k offer(op please correct me if I am wrong and you didnt meet spend bonus and take the bonus) and then close and move limit.. Hey I am all about bonuses, but Chase is catching onto this. Keep the card at least another year. Risking losing a relationship with chase and making it harder for others the get approved by people doing these things. Hence most likely the 5 CC rule in the last two years for CSP/Freedom/Slate has put into place recently. As stated you certainly can do it, just gotta think about the possible downfalls. If the card doesn't work for you then it doesn't work for you then close it.
