Ditched my Orchard and it feels GOOD!

This morning I set out to consolidate my Orchard credit line with my HSBC card. So, I called Customer Service at Orchard, explained what I wanted to do and was told that they would send me a form etc...I said no way--I don't want to wait 14 days or pay another month of membership fees. I was bounced around and finally spoke to a supervisor who told me they COULD NOT consolidate the two lines because of the types of cards they are (still don't get it) so I said fine--close the Orchard. The HSBC has no annual fee and a decent line--$300 really was not that big of a deal. Orchard tried to keep me but frankly the $300 line is just not worth it.

Orchard was great for the year of rebuilding--but I have managed to raise all of my scores by more than 100 pts in a little less than 12 months. No need for small TL

It's good for what it does. Once you no longer need it, unless there is something spectacular about the age (unlikely), take off the training wheels and wobble on down the street! Congrats--

I wonder if I'm the only person on the face o'the planet that pulls out my Orchard and wonders if EVERYONE seeing the card knows it means I have bad credit?! Is Orchard universally known for bad credit? I wonder if that's common knowledge?

Anyone else feel a twinge of embarrassment? So far, I've really only used it for online purchasing and online bill pays ... anyone else??

I have to admit I never pull it out in front of friends....I did use it to buy a pool membership though. I figured the young girl working there would have no clue what it symbolized, haha.

When I had Orchard, I only used it online. I didn't want to risk facing some Orchard stigma in an actual store.

Haha, I have wondered that in the past, but I have to wonder more about dear BF's Hooters card.

First of all, you meant "DEAR" right??? Not trying to nitpick at spelling (since I ain't the best in that department, and really, you deserve better than for me to nitpick) but if that's NOT a typo, please, please, please accept my deepest sympathy!!!

As for Hooters ... OMG, I hate to say it and sound like a prude, but no matter how desperate we are to build good credit lines, we ain't touching Hooters!! DH, BTW, IS a prude. So Hooters won't be in DH's wallet -- plus, I am definitely the "jealous type," so it'd be moot anyway.

(BTW, feel free to take the innuendo and giggle at it, LOL!!)

Besides, my eyesight ain't what it used to be ... and I don't know how good of a job I could do on putting teeny-weeny little black bars over the boobies on the card!
(We have a lot of easily offended ladies 'round here -- namely my MIL)

As for Hooters, you are not the only one. He left the activation sticker across the top of the card so no one can see it! Hahaha.

Whew!! Durn, Darlin' ... you had my heart stopped there!!!
Don't take the grumpy face to mean that I ain't happy it was a mistake!!

Hmm ... leaving the sticker on. That might work!! DH is always forgetful about taking that stupid sticker off, anyway. So no one peeping into his wallet would be suspicious that he's covering (literally) something up!!

His CheckCard is about to expire (had it for nearly 4 years) and it STILL has the stupid activation sticker on it!!! o_O

I'm fussy and a repressed neatnik -- my stickers come off ASAP.

I had an Applied Bank card and compared to them Orchard was prime. I pulled 'em out and used them and didn't care who thought what. After BK I was grateful as hell they even gave me a card.

I have since closed them because of fees but I will be eternally grateful.

First Premier is another story. "Predatory". (When you look this word up in the dictionary you see their logo.

No, you are not the only one and yes, Orchard is widely known as a card for the credit unworthy. I used to feel the same way about my Providian cards. Both Orchard and Providian tried to change that image by issuing non-subprime cards, but it is a hard perception to change. Of course Providian solved their problem by being subsumed by WaMu. As those last few Providian cards are replaced there will be no discernable distinction. I called and had WaMu send me a new card early...

nah, i don't care who sees my cards...i actually have 2 orchard cards!

i only feel embarrassed about my plains commerce card. all it says on it is TOTAL in big ugly block letters....cashiers probably think it's a fake credit card! can't wait to get rid of that ugly thing.
