Is there a point asking for CLI on my AmEx TE Costco Card?

Is there any point to ask for a CLI on my AmEx TE Costco Card when we all know they are ending their partnership next year? I want to keep a high-limit credit card and right now AmEx has my highest limit card with $5,000 CL. I know Citi bought the porfolio from AmEx so i'm fairly positive we'll be issued Citi cards by next year so I'm hoping the limit gets carried over as well. Anyway, I tried to do PC for my AmEx TE to AmEx Everyday but they said you can't PC a TE Card. Only AmEx regular bank cards can be PCed.

If it's your only AmEx card, why not? If you have others, ask for CLI on one of those instead. Did they mention what would happen to cardholders?

why not just apply for the amex you want then switch the limit over?

It is the only AmEx card I have and they haven't mentioned anything yet on what would happen to current TE Card Holders.

why not just apply for the amex you want then switch the limit over?

I did try to apply for the Every Day Card in April but I got declined. I asked to be reconsidered a week ago and they still declined me. I asked for the reason and they told me they still have the report from my first application. So it looks like it never got refreshed. I even tried offering a reallocation of my limit from TE to Everyday just so I can be approved but they said TE cards can't be reallocated. To me, it looks like they're being stingy with their TE Cards now that they're ending partnership with Costco. They now don't allow PCs and Limit reallocation from TE cards.

No mailers as of yet. I'm just really curious because I got in with Capital One Quicksilver and Discover IT but AmEx can't approve me. Is your mom AmEX TE holder? I heard AmEx is sending out invitations to current TE holders to apply for one of their regular cards. I hope I get one soon too.

The bolded part concerns me. They told you that limits from a TE cannot be reallocated even if you already currently have another Amex? That kind of sucks.

I would go for the cli. I started at $5000 in January and was raised to $15,000. The card is still good for another 9 months until it switches over and until Am Ex offers us a replacement card.

The statement that limits can't be allocated from the Costco TE card to another card got me intrigued.

I've been meaning to move part of my TE limit to my ED card for months and I just now did it. So the CSR who said that TE limits can't be reallocated is wrong.

Rules for TE reallocation are the same as for other Amex cards. Donor card must be 13+ months old, recipient card 60+ days.

They may not be allowing PCs from the TE to some other card right now, but CL allocations are definitely a go.

It may be that the person above who was refused a reallocation was refused because there was no recipient card old enough to qualify. Unlike a lot of cccs, Amex won't reallocate a CL upon opening a new card.

Thanks for your info! Big help! And you are right. I think the reason they refused is because I was trying to apply for a new card. When they declined my application, I offered to reallocate my CL to a new prospective card and that's when they said no. I just really want to retain my AmEx card.
