Thanks for this information, recently got a Chase. Will see how effective this can be based on payoff trends. I had not seen this with my other CCs.

I've read that if I pay my Chase CC to zero they will automatically update to the bureaus. But is there a certain time I should leave the account at zero balance to ensure they update before I can use it again? Thanks

Yes they do mid-cycle reporting if you PIF, you can leave it clear for 24 hours and it should be enough, and most things don't post imediately and pending charges aren't reflected in your reported balance.

I let a blance report quite a bit with my CSP, then PIF within a few days. It always reports when it gets to $0, and shows the bigger payment amount (rather than several smaller payments like I do on cards that don't automatically mid-cycle update).

It can play a role if you're applying for a loan and you need your Chase accounts to report $0 before your credit is checked. In reality it's not that huge of a deal and the average consumer will never even notice that Chase does this. There are other creditors that do this if you ask but Chase is the only one that does it automatically.
