i know capital one will let you have a few of the same card and sallie mae *used* to let you have 2 after 6 months, but are they the only?

I know Chase used to let you have more than one of the same, but with people saying they are cracking down on underwriting, that may be gone now. I would ring and ask before wasting time and an inquiry.

You can have 2 by PCing to one from either the Slate or CSP but I don't think Chase will let you apply for a second one.. Why do you want two?

honestly i wasn't planning on it i was just curious. like for those that got low initial CLs (i only got $1,500) and maybe they wanted a higher limit but the same card

If your goal is a higher limit, its better to apply for another chase product and transfer the limit to the Freedom. Lots of people do that.

this isn't for me per-say, but just in general for others maybe wondering. in MY position, i don't think i qualify for another chase product yet.

the current answer is no, you can't. i think back in the day, you when Chase carried both visa and mastercard, you could app for visa and convert another card to the mastercard version, as they were technically considered different products. But now that it's all visa, it's not possible to have 2 of the same card.

I did see a couple people here with 2 freedoms. but iirc. the guy who did it. had a old wamu card that he changed into a freedom. plus he apped one. ive never seen anyone apply for 2. to get double the bonus. but for sure this was recent on a thread where member had two and did not know what to do.

Did not read all of the replies, but my wife has two Freedom cards. The first one was a Mastercard with an $800 line. It was switched to a visa recently. She once tried to get the line increased and the banker told her he could not get it increased and that she should apply for another card which she did. That line is for $6500. We don't use the one with the smaller line anymore, but it is her oldest card so I don't want her to close it.

There are those that have more than one Freedom but it's via PC and not via apping. You don't need a second of the same card to get a higher CL. CL's can be moved among Chase products.

Most everybody with more than one Chase Freedom on here ended up with a second one when Chase discontinued a card they already had and PCed it to a Freedom. Lots of folks who used to have Bank One and Washington Mutual credit cards were given Freedom cards when Chase took over. If I remember correctly, when Chase discontinued the Perfect Card several years ago, they PCed all the existing ones to Freedom.

If one has a low credit limit on the Chase Freedom, then it might be better to either wait for an automatic CLI or use a HP for a CLI. I understand Chase might be 'singy' with CL's; but I don't agree with applying for another credit card product, for the sole purpose of transferring the SL. However, if one is meeting the maximum $1,500 in combined purchases in bonus categories; then this might be a good reason for another Freedom. Still, there might be an underlying need here. One must look to see what category is making them reach that $1,500 threshold and weather there is another credit card product that might better meet those needs.

I have 2, one applied for, one go from WaMu-chase perfect-freedom MC-freem VI
I can double quarterly reward cap, but now seem to rare as no grocery sotre ,no drug store, no airline, and all those single store category BS

I had both visa and mastercard version of freedom at the same time. Have since PC the MasterCard version.

I generally have a pretty good feel for activity that is ethically 'iffy', for example out-of-the-ordinary MS falls into that category for me, as would applying for the same card multiple times just to get a new account bonus. This being said, re-apping the same card for the purpose of getting a better APR and/or CL to me is completely ethical and 'OK'.

You mention you don't agree with applying for another Chase product with the intention of transferring the CL to another card, but I don't see the negative in that. Is there an ethical concern with this I'm missing?
