AMEX Premier Rewards Gold Card not the standard gold

Hey all,

I'd like to apply for the referenced card above, however, I will wait until Dec. I got turned down for it in Feb, but my credit had a BK during that time which is gone now.

Other than my car I will not have any additional INQ on my EX CR. In Dec I will have had 7 INQ and 8 new (three of the new acct were upgrades to visa and amex) accounts in the last year.

What are my chances for getting approved? Does my score need to be over a 760?

Amex considers more than just scores. Some members on here have reported success with scores in the 670 range. How old will each of those inquiries be?

I have 7 recent INQ in the last 12 months, last two INQ of the 8 are in June 2015.

6% revolving

6 new accounts in the last 12 months

I think your odds will be much better in December than they were in Feb when you applied.

Thanks, I agree also.

I thought about the Green but it just not have enough benefits for the annual fee.

I will not apply for anything else before that time, other than my car. The salesman told me that MB uses either TU or EX.

I got PRG with a 656 Fico about 4 years ago. With inquiries I think Amex is more forgiving than other lenders depending on other factors like recent negatives and income.

I was just approved this weekend with a 712 score, 10 inquiries, AAoA 2 years, and a discharged BK still showing.

Yeah, as others have said, I think scores over 700+ would be more than enough.

From my experience and spending way too much time on here, that amount of inquiries is fine, most of the time lenders are more worried about new accounts and not inquiries. *cough* Chase *cough*

As long as you have no other baddies, your util is fine and I am guessing your AAoA's is pretty high too; the only other thing I can think of is income. If you are above $30k I wouldn't worry at all. I would be very surprised if you didn't get approved!

Just to 'chime in', I think the others are spot-on... you have very good chances of getting approved next time around.

To add a data-point, I got approved for my Green and BCP with a EX 695, two inquiries, and two six year-old COs. (The underwriting for all the charge cards (Green, PRG and Platinum) is said to be virtually the same).

I'll also be applying in December for the same card but I'm going to apply for the charge card first then immediately after for the revolver for only 1 HP. Good luck!

Congrats!! I found my Feb declined letter too many INQ and high usage but only one card was over 30% geez Amex!

I applied with a 719 I make over 30k but a lot in students loans deferment, ok I guess the accounts I opened in Nivember and the Amex delta I opened a few days before I applied for the GC.

clean no neg

aaoa is like 3 years or so.

applied yesterday, was approved with 693 EX FICO with 12 inquiries, half within last year. Tried BCE right after and was denied, must've been for the inquiries.

Oh CONGRATS! I think they may only allow 1-2 cards at a time.
