Not a genius thinking. Amex is not Comenity where you get to play with the LUV button. It may lead to your own demise if you want their cards so you should care.

Why does everyone always get so worried about an income verification? Do you guys all overstate what you actually make? Seems if they asked for one from me I'd just mail in the info no issue.

It is not the actual verification which people dislike...it is the form in which it is accessed. If it was merely faxing in paystubs, w-2's or bank statements, most would be fine with it. However, the 4506-T form allows access to far more than just a yearly wage amount. For example, if you file jointly, then the IRS sends all of that info to AmEx, not just your part, which your spouse may find unacceptable. Most people looking for a mortgage do not find this level of access intrusive, but for a mere credit card many find it excessive.

"Real income" and "IRS income" are two different things. Especially for self-employed people and certain investors. Now before you go accusing me of tax avoidance (which may or may not be true, and not going to use the 'e' word), consider these:

1. I took a huge loss a couple years ago and rather than do 1040X's and get money back for previous years, I pushed it forward. So I should not have to pay taxes for a couple more years at least. Even though I'm making plenty of money, after the deduction I'm "making" nothing according to the IRS.

2. If you have an S-corp which has taken a loss, those losses are passed through to you, even if you personally didn't actually lose any money this year. Once again, making plenty of real money but no taxable income.

... and I could go on and on with hypothetical examples, but those two are real for me. And if you get really agressive with deductions (all legal, friends), you could have a substantial chasm between the two even without special cases.

There's always some genius hiding in the bottom of a bottle. That's what I always say. Like a Cracker Jack toy, you just gotta dig down and find it. Sometimes consuming the product along the way.

I have no doubt that Mr. XTERROR will do well with Amex. If not, he will have plenty of paper with which to start fires.

lol tbh idgaf about MR, they won't approve me for another and won't PC me. it's a whopping $2k... it'll still leave me over $20k total so idc. nfcu bumped me from $1k to $5k without using their card but once. i used amex over 80 times since March and over $5k (and i pretty much stopped using it over the last month and a half. most of that was from march to may)
if they don't want me then so be it. there are better creditors out there. amex isn't all it's cracked up to be honestly.

I haven't used mine so fat this month. Maybe they don't want me to charge 2.5/3k and pif when I get home..........idk. Don't see that as a risk, you either. Maybe we should give them another 6 months and see what they say? I won't put anything on their card this month though.
