and the reviews i read are from people who actually have the card so i am not understanding your logic. is it relatively easy to get the 2%? sure. but can mistakes happen? very easily.

and not once did i explode but when i am called out i don't take it lightly when i am VERY CLEAR on the fact my info came from reviews. i didn't say "this card sucks and you won't want it". no. i clearly was up front about it all and said to do your own research. the 2% back isn't convenient for everyone, especially people like me that pay 15 times a month. (ok i over exaggerated some but you get the picture)

i would say a solid 60-70% of people get the full 2% 100% of the time. but, in my opinion, (which most people actually respect for some reason) it isn't worth the hassle of "oh did i pay too early?"

just use you brain man that's all this is.

For those that had/have both which do you prefer? I'm looking to get one or the other. In my area amex is accepted pretty much everywhere so that's not an issue. How are the rewards redemption for both? What are the requirements for both? Currently I have 730, 743, 746 no baddies aaoa is over 5 years and util is 7% oldest account is 11 years.

Flip a coin honestly. Yes, people complain about opening a Fidelity account, but there's no minimums (unless that's changed) and it just happens to be a great brokerage. The Citi has the edge of being accepted more widely while the Fidelity has a 1% FTF vs Citi 3%. I have Fidelity and it's been great to me for years.

I've heard Fidelity is harder to qualify for but the limits can ramp up high, Citi is relatively easy but some folks are getting low limits.

Apart from FTF (which hardly matters as you want to use a card without one), a big difference is in the minimum redeption. Citi is $25, Fidelity is $50. So partly depends how much non-category spend you have. If you have a lot, it really doesn't matter, if it's smaller, you may have to wait several months before redeeming with Fidelity.

I have both, and they are fine, but they are mainly S/D for now with Discover Miles giving 3% the first year.

based on MANY reviews if you pay too early you won't get it. i am no pro but that's what i have gathered. not saying you can't pay off before statement, but it seems if you charge today and pay off tomorrow you won't see the full 2%

and let's be reasonable. do you want a cards that has hoops to jump through (you don't seem much like you're into circus acting) or do you want a nonsense card that'll give you 2% just because they care and want you as their customer? the IDEA behind the DC is good, i just wouldn't toy with it myself.

Other wise. i will be forced to go back to my Quicksilver. My freedom is for gas right now. But Discover is Sded. due to a BT. and i don't want any new purchases on it.
