Bank of America - CLI request?

Hi everyone!

I'm a new member and this is my second post.

I am a Bank of America checking customer with a Bank of America Platinum Plus Visa card (with AF).

The card has only remained at $500 CL from it's inception in early 09-2014.

As the app spree within the last 2 months, I've received SL from other banks upwards of $10K, while BofA has not given any auto CLI.

Currently showing on my CR: Barclay $4k, CO $3750, Discover $7500, Credit One $750. Old Navy $800 & two student loans.

I have NOT been late or gone over the limit at any point. I have the card set for an automatic payments of $50 every month and pay it off shortly after. The current balance is $200 (as my mom is an AU on the card).

Would it be wise to take a HP for a CLI?

If not, what other course of action recommend?

If so, would it be best to request via chat?

Would there be any effect if I were to "lock" the CR to avoid a HP?

Also, there is not LUV button on the page.

I have only have 4 INQ on my TU with a score of ~690, most recent HP was Barclay (06/20) and the other ones are over a year old (Barclay, CO).

If you freeze/lock your reports you won't get the CLI, as consumer requested CLIs with them are always a HP.

Since you recently spreed and recieved several cards, do you really need an increase right now at the cost of a new HP? Maybe better to just wait?

Even if your report is locked, since BOA is a current creditor they can still pull resulting in a HP I believe.

Good point. Would it be best to wait until almost the 12 month mark to request something? and/or PC the product to one with no AF?

Or other?

It just seems odd that I haven't received anything, whether it be 250 or double, as my other cards have slowly crept up without any request.

BoA auto-CLI are very rare, so if you want a higher limit then you need to ask and will be a HP.

Strange that you don't have the link to 'Request a credit line increase', I have it below 'Card Details', never used it, I'm waiting until my Venture (15k) reports for at least 4 months.

If you chat/call and they HP, you can call again before 30 days and ask for more. Of course they will use the same pull so it needs to show that they can give you more without much risk.

Noone can do a HP when it's frozen. They however still can SP you but they will want a HP for a CLI no question about it.

try the online CLI, then call it for recon if you want more.

i had a $500 secured card limit, went online to ask for 5k and got countered with $1600. i called next morning and the rep used the same HP and asked if i wanted $5000 more then i said yes. i ended up with $6600 with 1 hp.

At least with Bank of America the HP gets you a subsantial CLI. went from $2,500 to $5,400 then $10,000 with 2 HP's total.

Thanks to all of you for the insightful responses.

I double checked on my desktop view of the account page for BOFA and no CLI request button anywhere.

So, I will wait just a bit longer and see if anything occurs.

The opening date was ~Sept. 02, so around that date I will to speak with an analyst about possibly reducing APR, CLI and/or especially PC the product to avoid the AF.

Thanks guys! I'd hope that when they see two $10K limits among the other not so tiny limits, they will at least convene to some sort of raise.

Would it be beneficial to PC to a no AF like BBR? It'll probably not see much usage as it's a toy limit, so unless they give at least $5k, It will be living in the sock drawer.

Can't PC to/from a BBR. Sorry. Not happening.

I would PC to the Travel or Cash rewards as you prefer - I believe this is allowed, and neither has a fee.

Sometimes they say that the AF stays after PC, just keep calling the backdoor number until an analyst or senior analyst remove the AF on your new card (cash or travel).

I ended up closing my BoA card a couple of months ago, total waste of HP's IMO, strong income, strong scores, BS "excuses" that they couldn't (would not) increase my CL $1.00.

I don't need cards that won't work for me and BoA, in my case was worthless - note I know a lot of myFICO member love BoA, I'm not one of them.

I wonder if the CLI link only shows up when you qualify for an increase. Mine was always there, I requested a CLI and they increased by $2500 and then about a month or two later they auto increased another $1500. After that I didn't see the link for awhile, today when I logged in I saw the link there again.

So I wonder if BofA only makes it visible when you qualfiy for an increase?

Was this a fully secured card or a partially secured card (i.e. 99/500)? Was it still a secured card when you asked for a CLI or did you get it unsecured first? How long did you have the card before requesting a CLI?

I log into the account about every other day and have never noticed any link for CLI.

My anniversary date is coming up in early September, so I want to make some changes for the better.

I went thru Chat recently and the rep informed that my card was "secured" (It's never been) and that no upgrades were currently on my account, including PC or CLI.

They referred me to call directly to ask about those items but that my account shows that it doesn't "qualify",

Uhhh... I'm a Bank of America checking customer since 2007 and I have no lates and always PIF whenever the card was used.

I recently opened a checking and savings with Wescom CU, as they had incentive for compettivie future auto loan rates/PLOC, etc.

So, at this rate of backwards productivity, I'm thinking of closing up shop with Bank of America by end of the year.

(Wescom did not request CR, only went through the ChexSystems).

Anyway, I'll keep an eye out on the CLI but for the HP, I'd rather app for another higher limit CC.

This thread prompted me to try the CLI link and I just got another $5000, I just had an Auto CLI in May for $1500 and back in March I requested a CLI of $2500. So technically I had 3 CLI's within a 5 months period.

Considering that I started with BofA about 2 1/2 years ago with a $500 secured CC and today it transformed into a $10,000 unsecured. I have absolutely no quarrels with BofA, they have been the most giving and generous from all of the banks I have cc's with.

I have the BOA Secured card with $2000. 7 months ongoing my mom just had a cli from $500 - $2000 idk what her score was I think 650.

i have BoA star on 99/500 on 11/14 is pass unsecured after 5 statement i ht the CLI and nothing in my site i have the link for rescue credit line Increased i wait to complete the 12 month and let see i hope i have CLI or i closet the account for good
