I read a lot of posts regarding chargesmart but I know there are more out there who have used it. Let's talk about your experiences, you can use same format as mine below or whichever you prefer. Just trying to get an update on which cards are still ok to use with chargesmart.

Card Used: Barclay Arrival +

First Time: 7/2015 for $15 (run test for mortgage payment)

Second Time: 7/2015 for $2150 (remainding mortgage payment)

Paid To: Central Loan Administration & Reporting (VA Loan)

Treated as cash advance? No

Isses: None

Notes: Payments cleared in 3 days

It appears they charge alot of $ in fees.. For example after I read this I was looking at paying my auto lease by visa and believe it was like a 35$ chage for approx 900$? I guess if you need to meet spend them ya, otherwise kinda expensive. Appears to be over 3 or closer to 4% fee?

Yeah you're right. I only did it because i made the mistake of getting the Arrival + Venture and CSP almost at the same time. I only used chargesmart for those two times. I think i paid $50 for the complete mortgage payment.

Good thing is that i was able to meet my spending on the CSP just with regular bils and such in 2 months as well as Venture.

Right, the fees mean it should only be considered for meeting minimum spend to get a bonus, and even then only for those that don't want to consider using some of the other routes, like Serve/BlueBird/Redbird etc

It's workable with certain rewards programs, I just wish they took AmEx as then I'd be able to put my SPG to hard use with it.

Right, the fees mean it should only be considered for meeting minimum spend to get a bonus, and even then only for those that don't want to consider using some of the other routes, like Serve/BlueBird/Redbird etc

i thought we cant use Serve/BlueBird/Redbird?? how does that work?

No problem, I was using this service pretty heavily over the beginning of the year to take advantage of a Discover offer to spend $3,000/month x 6 and get $500 bonus CB.

While the discussion of using your credit cards to pay rent/mortgages or other bills is permitted, the discussion of using them to generate cash rewards is not so limit talk to that subject. Otherwise there are alternatives sites.

Discussion of chargesmart is perfectly fine as well as the others. It's only when talk about the other products turns into discussion of how to MS does it become a problem. It was just a heads up notice.

It says there's a 2.5% fee. Not bad compare to the ones that have 3%

honestly haven't really looked into the other ones yet to compare rates to pay the IRS.. if I ever had to meet spend for bonus then I would consider a nice lump payment to them, but otherwise I pay check and do the bare min on my 6 year re-payment plan, was kinda kiding and kinda not I might just get lucky and kick the bucket before the IRS get anymore money out of me!
