Question: Best way to use MR for BOS<->PIT flight

Hi all,

In august I'm flying to pittsburg from Boston and wanted some advice on making the most of my MR (or whether I should just save my MR for some other use). I've got ~57K MR to play with. Since The flight distance is <650 miles I was thinking avios would be the way to go if I could get a direct US airways flight. I know these exist from the US airways page, but when I search for it on the BA website nothing comes up...does this mean they can't be booked with avios?

Do I have any other good options? Jetblue does the flight too, but for more around 16k points each way (and the MR:trueblue ratio is not even 1:1), and delta can do it with layovers for 10k each way. Am I missing anything?

The 10,000 miles you are seeing on Delta is round trip. This is the page with an example grid of using miles, BOS to PIT, somewhere in mid August.

Touche. I wasn't sure when in August they wanted it but I was able to book RT 1st class on AA DEN <-> DFW and using BA miles 18K each way 5 days out. Econo would have been 4.5K each way. Woulda been 25K/12.5K each way using AAdvantage.

The shorter the route is, the less inclined I am to pay with points.

Yes, that seems to be the advantage with using miles: If seats are still available a few days prior to take off, the miles seem to be generally the same as further out.

Why? The BOS-PIT is at least $230 RT, so at 10k or 9k miles, is over 2c per mile.

I, too would think twice, but only because the absolute dollars ar relatively low. If one does not fly much, its a good use of the points.

I just looked it up. Same flight is $950 RT on AA website.

Thanks guys! It looks like for my dates there are no economy award seats for the US airways flights, just first class (18k each way like Tuolomne said). I didn't realize the delta 10k was for round trip; I think that's probably my best bet.
