If I use the card to pay fees and tickets directly through delta.com, does it automatically credit me? Also how easy is it to use their portal for hotels for the free 4th night? We are staying 5 nights in Waikiki and we are planning for a specific hotel and a specific room that we want. Are we able to do that and get the same prices found when booking directly with the hotel?

Thanks in advance for any help.
Because the flight is Delta and not AA or US, your 50k points will be worth $650. You must book directly through Citi's Thank Your portal. If the price varies from what is listed on Deltas's site, call the Citi Thank You line and ask to speak to a supervisor. They will match the price.

The $250 credit is very easy to use. Just pay with the Prestige and you'll reimbursed automatically. This works towards airline tickets as well.

The 4th night statement credit is also easy to use. Call the concierge using the number on the back of the card. Tell them that you want the 4th night statement credit on a hotel. They look for the hotel and give you prices. They have, at least for me, almost always been the same as prices listed on other websites. Sometimes lower. If they're not, they will match the price for you.

MR points transfer 1:1 with delta.

Before you do that, have you entered your skymiles number at deltaamexcard.com yet? there are 50-60k delta mile targeted offers there for the delta gold card.

Actually, you could do a 2 for 1 punch. Just apply for the Delta 35k mile offer if you dont get the 50-60, then app for PRG. you will end up with 85-110k delta miles, and I would like to think this would be better. Not to mention 2 $100 gift cars one now and one in january with 1 or 2 airlines, plus $50 with the delta card. All for 1 inquiry if approved, none if denied.

Then after its all said and done you can change the delta card to a hotel card or something with no annual fee, or move the limit to ur amex bce.

Keep in mind, I would LOVE to start having some TYP....and I have no idea what all the benefits are of the citi prestige, doesnt sound like the right card for someone new to travel cards with that high of an AF...but looks like u have the credit to support it for sure.

Thanks for the advice guys. I think I'm going to apply for this card soon. How does Citi seem to be on approval criteria for the prestige? Is this their golden child A.K.A strict?

I have a clean but young file, oldest account being about 1.5 years. No inquiries in the last 6 months on EQ or TU, might have 1 on EX from apartment credit check. Will be starting a new job next month and bringing in about 23- 34K Gross

What do you think?

From anyone that has the card, how is it for being able to redeem the benefits? I need to book Delta for the flight and I would like to know how the 50K points get redeemed for $665 worth of airfare (according to the website). Also same with the $250 credit.

I'm entirely new to travel cards and I want to know before I app and pay $450 if this card is going to be worth it.

I think your question would be better evaluated at flyertalk or millionmilesecrets, etc. Why are you sticking with delta?

Since you have the Amex already, for a soft inquiry, you could just apply for the PRG. Look for the 50k mile offer from a private browser.

I'm stuck with Delta because I'm going with family and friends and one of them has a $500 voucher for Delta because of a layover on a previous flight, so she insists we use it now.

I don't have a skymiles number. Actually I have never flown before. That's just their free to join program right?

The delta card does sound nice, and I have been thinking about it, but I might let my GF get one instead because she's looking for a travel card herself and it seems to be the best one to fit her needs in a card.

The annual fee is steep, but with my calculations if I can get everything to work out just fine, I come out about $750 ahead AFTER the annual fee for this vacation, which is more than any other card I've compared it against so far.

Lastly, for completely vain purposes, is the Prestige a WEMC?

Im sure you will make the right decision. But to me it sounds like you are basing this on total cost. And if thats the case, the amex route would better serve you.

You would have to spend 3k with citi to get the 50k points.

for only 1k spend with amex on prg you would ned 50k points or 50k miles whichever, a $100 gift card, and another in january.

PLUS you could also go for a 25k targeted offer on the amex everyday, check prequal, or just do the delta gold targeted or hidden 35k offer.

you will spend $2 grand with amex, end up with much more, for much less....that $500 voucher would pair nice with two $100 and 1 $50 gift cards for another flight. You could probably just do this flight with amex points and/or delta miles too.... just keep that voucher for another trip!

there is a fee to transfer amex MR points to skymiles. check award availability through other skyteam partners and maybe transfer into them.

around how much is the ticket you want to get? are we talking like a 1500$ ticket or like a $500 ticket?

if it's a fairly cheap ticket (under 1000$) you might be best off taking advantage of the $250 credit and saving the thankyou points for when you can get max value.

thankyou points also transfer to at least one airline in each of the 3 big alliances. oneworld, star Alliance, and skyteam. this means delta awards can technically be booked with thankyou points, just through one of their partners. in this case it would be flyingblue. try checking award availability for your flight with them.

If I buy giftcards I would fly free.

Thank you so much for your help.

Another question, you said points transfer 1:1? I thought I saw some fine print somewhere in T&C that said there was a fee to transfer to domestic frequent flyer programs. Do you know anything about this?

you will pay an excise fee. internet says 50k mr points costs about $30 to transfer.

I would not redeem the points for gift cards unless that is what you get the best value from. you wont see the 50k offer unless you open a blocked/inprivate browser window or incognito on chrome, and google amex prg 50k.

Did you go to delta and price your round trip ticket in miles, miles and cash, and just cash? What were the amounts???

I think I'm going to apply for this card soon. How does Citi seem to be on approval criteria for the prestige? Is this their golden child A.K.A strict?

I have a clean but young file, oldest account being about 1.5 years. No inquiries in the last 6 months on EQ or TU, might have 1 on EX from apartment credit check. Will be starting a new job next month and bringing in about 23- 34K Gross

What do you think?

as long as you have decent spend and can redeem for maximum amounts... then go for it. but i have to say, you would be a minority. few people with your income would carry a card with a $450 annual fee, despite its credits and perks.

I think $3k spend for only $800 in value (typ are valued at 1.6 cents per point) is not as good as it could be. you would get more out of the life of this card if you werent trying to churn for points though.

Have you fully evaluated how you spend your money compared to how you travel for maximum redemption?

What do you mean by this?

Currently I'm not in the mindset of churning, I see long term potential in this card, I'm just curious about the sign up bonus because It has the potential to make my portion of our upcoming vacation very cheap.

sorry its late. I mean have you looked at what you spend your money on for 1 year and see where you can earn the most rewards? You would have to spend about $7000 a year on prestige card to break even. assuming you spend it all at the highest category, airfare and hotels. Do you spend over $7k a year on travel expenses?

Also too, dont forget about skip gating.

Delta sky miles are not always perfect...they recently underwent a devaluation.. They do have sales on tickets sometimes. Why dont u head over to delta and see what the cost is in miles for your trip, or cash+miles to use up those potential gift cards....

So I might do this instead.

If you're set on flying Delta don't get the Prestige. The $625 in airfare is for AA because you get a bonus for using your points to book AA through the Citi site.

If you are doing Delta I would ge tthe Delta Gold Card. It has a 60k signup bonus, $50 statement credit for Delta purchase + no AF the first year. That would be the minimum. You also could do the Delat Platinum for additional miles but it has a $195 AF that is not waived. The PRG also has a 50k offer that waives the fee for the first year plus $100 airline credit .

If you are flying Delta stick to one of the Amex cards. Prestige is good for other benefits but not for Delta.
