This will probably sound stupid. I know Chase is picky about new accounts when applying for Freedom, SP etc. Are they as picky with the Amazon card? Are they REALLY as picky as I have read about the 5 new accounts or you are declined? I have 4 new accounts since November. If I want to get in with Chase, I need to do it now or wait 2 years unless there is more flexibility.

I am also looking at Discover and Am Ex. I really hate trying to pick! I am only planning on getting 2 cards then garden for another 6 months so build my AAoA back up. My 2nd card is NFCU.

You should be fine as the Amazon card is a co-branded card. Report back with results should you apply. However, take a look at the Amazon card issued through Synchrony. That same card surpasses Chase's version of it.

I agree, you should be fine. When I was approved my TU fico was in the 720's but CARS scroe from TU was so low! I was shocked! The last time i had receieved my CARS was last August when I was approved for Freedom and it was 708 and my TU FICO was 660.

This is from amazon after I recieved the well will let you know application needs more time to process request. Eventually the card showed up on my account landing page. But, from prior experience the chase amazon card was the hardest to get until I was in with Chase. They gave me a low limit but I talked to a banker at chase who requested they should at least match the limit on my lowest chase card of $4000.00. Took 5 minutes, no hard inquiry and got the limit changed from $500 to $4000.00 and then marriott was approved at $8,000.00k.

Also, there is so no serious delinquency, public record or BK on my CR. The only negative is a 500 dollar (paid) chargeoff from 2009.

When I saw 641, I was like mannnnn. Thanks for still approving me chase.

If you are torn between Discover and Amex, go Discover. Their website is better, and they are taken at more locations. I've found it really hard to use my Amex Every day card 20 times per month (gave up on it actually) because my liquor store, my grocery store, and alot of the little ma and pop shops I patron don't freaking take it.

I'd say it depends AFA running into places that do and don't take Discover and Amex. They are about equal for me in places not accepting them, but it's very few places. I also like both companies, websites, apps. If you've got one/ enough in the way of Visa/Mc I'd think of going with big of those over Chase Amazon. I have it and it's pretty unremarkable. I moved most of my limit to another chase card and will likely close down the line. DH has the Sync-Amazon card and we've got Sallie Mae (5% at Amazin as a. 'Bookstore' up to $750 mo).

Thanks for the feedback. I will hold off on the Chase Amazon. I will go for the store card when I am done with the bank cards. I was trying to kill 2 birds with one stone. I only have 2 bank cards and would like to expand that now that I have a little bit of recent payment history. I would like one card with good rewards and one card with hopes of a bigger limit with lower APR. Discover is offering 5% for the next 2 months for home improvement and dept. stores. I just bought a house and will primarily be using my card for their promo. I don't know what their starting CL's are like but I definitely don't need a $500 or $1k cl.

I started the process with NFCU and applied for my own membership - am currently joint with DH. My reason or them is to get the bigger limits and, hopefully, lower APR. Their rewards seem to be the same as cap 1. I truly never thought it would be so tough deciding on a credit card. When I was in the garden, I wanted them all. lol

I just wanted to follow up on what decisions I ended up making and the results.

I chose to go to Chase direct first. I was approved for the Freedom card with a $10k limit and 13.99% interest, no interest for the first 15 mo. I got my card in a week. This shockingly was my biggest starting limit and interest rate. I used it to buy the 65 inch samsung 4k ultra that Sams had on special over the weekend

Discover was next. The 5% rewards for home improvement caught my eye. but when I saw double cash back, I was in. We just bought a house July 24 so I knew I would use that A LOT. I was approved for $3,500. I got my card in 4 days. My first statement just cut which I didn't expect. I used this card extensively over the past week and planned to pay that off this week. I went in tonight to add my bank info and saw the statement with a $1,400 balance *sigh*

I went with the Amazon store card. Synchrony backs several stores (including furniture). I wanted my foot in the door to establish payment history in the event I ever have to apply and/or recon. I have been a prime member for 3 years so that 5% was just an added bonus. $2,700 starting limit. I just got the "card" on Saturday. I haven't reconned it but plan to tomorrow. My biggest shock here was that they reported the new account to fico 3 days after applying!

I also will be calling NFCU tomorrow before I close out my spree. We are more interested in the line of credit than credit card but I most likely will apply for both.

I decided not to apply for AmEx right now. I will apply after I garden for a year, build up some history and credit limits and also give my mortgage loan time to report. I hope for better limits after all that is accomplished. If app withdrawals are too bad, I can always apply for the DH lol

Although I have been strongly against using credit for many years, my lack of true knowledge was my worst enemy. Understanding the rewards benefits, how to pif, when to pay and not to pay etc has totally changed my thoughts on using credit. This site is invaluable to me. I went from sub 600 scores to buying a house and getting prime cards! in 8 months! I spent more hours than I care to think about reading on this site but it was all worth it!!! My goal is to break 800 by Jan 1, 2017 but it make take til 2020 to do it lol
