I think you'd be good for an AMEX charge. A revolver might be more difficult but you can always try. You also might want to try for a cap one Venture since your already in with them. People have been seeing nice starting limits. Really it all comes down to what rewards are important to you.

I read on cap ones site and a few other places that there is a limit on the amount of cards you can have with them. On the site it says two, here it's said around four(you have four yourself). Not sure if that's not counting cards that were someone else before cap1 or not tho, mine are direct from cap1.

So not a great shot at a revolver? I do have a baddie though. Late payment 6x in a row. Went to 180 days on eq, and ex. Tu only shows a few 120+. That was September 2013-march 2014. So I don't know how had that is, it is however a 'major derog'

Capital One is 5 individually held cards. I don't think your file is strong enough for the Venture yet.

You could try the Macy's Am Ex IN STORE. They run Ex. Worst case you should get the store card.

Cabelas Visa runs Eq. That may fly. With Am Ex try the ED. An Ex pull. Barclays is TU and may be a good option also. You could get a Wal Mart store card to help with utilization. Another TU pull.

Not sure how doing a car refi with lots of inquiries will hurt your credit card chances. Do you have one lender like a credit union in mind so it will be one pull?

I do have 7 grand of stdent loans and a car payment of 15k on the file. Dont know if that makes it any less thin? My oldest activate card is cap1 at 2.1 years, cumulatively, i've been with cap1 for about 36 total months. My refinance is going to be a hard equifax pull, just one, with my credit union. Eq is kind of already bunked because when i first got the car i didn't know any better and let the dealer scattershot my inquiries, ended up with 12, not all were keyed as auto loan inq.

Technically i dont have to go on the app spree, it's just that i'll have my credit as high as possible currently and i figured i'd take advantage.

By spree I mean probably opening at most 3 New cards. I just don't really want to wait a few months to app for a card(or cards) because in 12 months I plan on buying a new car. And I would like a clean 12 month span from September to September of inquiries.

I wouldn't refi my car if I didn't need to, but the interest is literally 80 dollars more per month than its about to be and it's just one inq.

I just want to pick the right cards. I'm thinking two of Chase/Amex/Barclay and one of the Venture cards. I know Venture does a triple pull, but the starting line if approved would be awesome.

Well there isn't necessarily a need for any certain type of card. Rewards would be fantastic, daily, like with the Discover or Freedom, I already have Discover however. Freedom would likely make the most sense of any Chase cards since i dont have any need for a BT anytime soon so Slate is likely out the window.

A travel card would be nice as i do plan on Travelling at some point later this year, and much more going forward(new job started this past feburary which has gotten all finances in order) Thats where the Venture idea comes in(which i now know, only the 'VENTURE') Maybe sapphire preffered instead? But the High SL with venture would be awesome.

And I would really like to get in with AMEX, Ideally with a solid reward card like the Blue cash ED, or even just the ED.

With my Fairwinds i receive 2% on Gas and groceries

Discover the rotating categories

Cap1 Everyone knows about the QS

Merrick/Sears have a garbage APR andbad rewards So they're never used
