Don't remember Citi AAdvantage being World Elite

Just read an email about my "Citi® / AAdvantage® Platinum Select® World Elite™ MasterCard". I don't remember it being World Elite. I did randomly get a card replacement a few months back and never paid much attention to it. So I just looked at the old and new card (same expiration and CVV code) and the original is World MC and the new one is World Elite MC. So I guess it's Elite. Are they all Elite? Just curious..

Yes they all are WMECs

If you go to the site though, the regular card isn't marketed at Elite, as the other one is. CITI® / AADVANTAGE® EXECUTIVE WORLD ELITETM MASTERCARD® and

Citi® / AAdvantage® Platinum Select® MasterCard® for the one I have.

I think they changed it couple months ago. I have both and both are WEMCs

I just got a Citi AA Platinum Card with 11.5K CL and it is not a World Elite, its just a World MC. Not that I care either way but I was under the impression that for AA cards only the Executive was Elite.

My Aadvantge Platinum Select was also upgraded to a WEMC a few months ago. Don't they get more money per swipe for those cards compared to a regular World MasterCard?

My new AAdvantage is also only a World MC, not WEMC.

I got a replacement card in April. I wasn't sure why I was sent a new card when I only had the card for a couple of months. Before calling Citi, I check the forums here. Of course, I wasn't the only one. There were others who got the same replacement in the mail.

I was approved for a Citi AA Gold World MC couple months ago. Then after about a month, they upgraded me to the WEMC with chip. Not that I care but I do like the fact that I now have both WEMC and Visa Siggy cards. Go Citi!
