Sams Club Pre-qualification mailer

Anyone ever get one? I just got one. I was hoping to get a pre approval when i brought in my groupon last month for my membership. Who knows it may have popped up then the service desk person was not the smartest of the bunch. Idk why but i really want that card. Should i go for it?

I like my Sam's Mastercard 5% gas anywhere and CL grew quickly. Good Luck if you decide to go for it!

Dunno what your scores are, your limits look good on other cards... be aware sams club is a weird one. You can always be denied the mastercard and be stuck with the PLCC. Great part about PLCC is you can be invited to upgrade later, so thats good.

Be aware their cash back is wonky. Its a great way to get an extra one percent on top of the plus membership....but all your cash back comes in the form of a check at the end of a 12 month period. The check can only be cashed inclub....can be used for whatever you want.

Except for discover general spend cash back of 1 percent....and with it being doubled to 2... After that I cant think of any way at all to get more than 1 percent cash back.... and who knows how long sams will take discover anyway

Was the sams prequalifer for the MC or store card or vague? If you are sitting at 700 FICO Tu, id go for it. With synch nothing can be for sure, I was approved for Ebates Visa 3k with a 722 TU fico and then approved for $537 sams store card

But sams store card was bumped to 8k after calling credit solutions.

me want ebates!!!!!!!!! unlimited 3%.....I will REALLY want one when discover is done with double cash back...... its just heaven anymore.... spend 100 and instead use a coupon, bam 80 bucks, then bam, another 15 off from ebates, then bam, 8 bucks off from discover......

Hmm... synchrony bank seems to really be ok with me...but I am too scared to get a denial, and i am kinda trying to pimp my scores to churn.............. ugh

I dunno, if OP wants some extra cushion in their util, shops at sams, wants ability to have free cash access in sams, wants a card for walmart...and is OK with potential of not getting MC and rare chance of invitation to convert to mastercard.... then go for it....I would try to get it when they give u $40-$70 free though.

If it is a card that you really want, why not? Given your current cc, you should not have a problem getting approved. Good luck if you decide to go for it! Let us know.

What you had a 722 and they gave you a 537 store card?? how many inqs did you have or new accounts when this happened? Yikes!!!!

I got my preapproval at the service desk, and it was a SP for me for the MasterCard, fortunately. I would try again for the register preapproval while checking out because they can tell you then if it's the MasterCard, APR tier, and also the CL you may qualify for. Initially, I was very excited to have the card; but it's no longer my go-to for gas purchases with the PenFed Cash Rewards and Sallie Mae in my wallet. I also have a Walmart MC that I can resort to for other purposes at both retailers if necessary.

Like other Synchrony cards, the limit grows very quickly with decent credit. I had mine at 15k within a couple months of having it. Unfortunately, I will probably lose my Sam's MC when I discontinue my membership next year.

I am HIGHLY doubting this, otherwise we would be hearing more of this. Not once on here have I heard this. In fact, aside from invitation, folks that try to get the mastercard sometimes end up with a second PLCC. There is no guarantee you get the MC.

Now as far as the inquiries, they said it is a hard inquiry regardless. And yes, after the HP, you find out if its MC or PLCC, the APR, and Credit line. And you can always decline. But most people wouldnt decline because it would be a waste of a hard pull.

Ive had my sams club plcc since may. Maybe things are dfferent elsewhere....

I don't know about receiving that information when applying at the register unless it's from a preapproval offer. When I was completing the membership process at the service counter this past April, the representative said that I was preapproved for the Sam's Club MasterCard. She emphasized that it was for the MasterCard, not the store card, with a $3800 starting limit. I had it raised to 15k with the online chat function.

The Walmart MC is a better deal for me because I'm offloading a number of AF cards soon, and I view the Sam's MC as having an AF. I can have the deferred financing offered on the Walmart MC if I choose to use it for that purpose. For groceries, Publix offers a much better shopping experience for me, so I'd much rather go there and stock up on their weekly deals.

Is there any other way to earn cash back on top of a sams club plus membership besides a discover card (now 2, butnormally only 1 percent)

well unless there are variances across states, based on my phone call today, the card is still combined app, and results are unknown, HP regardless.

now lets also remember here, this was ONE phone call with ONE person, this individual could be giving me false info! (fingers crossed clerk was wrong lol)

I am going in club tomorrow afternoon and will speak with 2 different people just to figure out this whole situation!

You were probably told wrong information and probably didn't look hard enough for data points on this site. I just did a search and there's several threads indicating that the poster received a preapproval specifically for the -MasterCard- or Discover (when it was offered) at the register. My experience was exactly like the OP's of the aforementioned thread. Representatives at the store aren't underwriters and don't determine who gets a preapproval and who doesn't. They are going to encourage EVERYONE to apply, regardless of what pops up on the screen at the register. Just because most people don't get the offer, doesn't mean that some of us don't.

AWESOME! Sounds legit enough to me! Ok then, every time I go to sams, mamas gonna be checkin prequals at the register! Lol. And then I can combine the limit with my PLCC. This made my day!!

Synchrony bank needs to get their info straight then. Because on multiple occasions their chat reps have always spouted off the same info...always no way to tell which you get, its up to the system when you apply, and only other way is invitation with a PLCC. But ya, reps are OFTEN wrong on things and thats why we have forums like these!!!

So I'm in club. No SP check available. They always apply people for mc if denied then plcc.

My club takes Mastercard, swear to God it was always debit only except for discover... Double cash for the win...unlimited 4 percent cash back!

Is there a SP check? It's was discover before last August. Then they converted to Mc. Did you apply or since you have store you will not?
