This one is on my wish list. With all of the updates to their other cards, I thought this one would get a totally different look. Maybe it didn't change much due to Sallie Mae's input.

Thanks for the heads up. I'm surprised to see that the "powered by barclaycard" logo is missing. I figured they would have relocated that to the upper left section of the card with the redesign.

The funny thing is I had just e-mailed Barclays this afternoon about when a chip card would be available. Guess I beat them to the punch.

They told me the new card will be mailed in September. I'll wait to see if anyone's replacement requests result in a chip card being sent earlier.

I just got my Ring card a few weeks ago. Probably won't be getting the new chip card anytime soon. But the exp. date is only 2 years, so I won't have to wait long.

You'll get it well before then. By Oct 1 all these cards will be chipped.

Yup. The liability shift for fraudulent charges starts Oct 1 so all cc companies will be updating their remaining unchipped cards.

They moved things around to make room for the chip and the barclaycard branding is mysteriously missing. I was also hoping for a new design. Something similar to what they did with the rewards card, which I think is a pretty nice design.

This is one of the chipped card I have seen that I prefer the non-chipped look, being the older one more.

Actually thats not guaranteed for fomuscles....You wont get it automatically by Oct1. Gotta call after Aug 1...Here is the criteria:

So who will get the new plastic and when?

Starting in October 2015 cardmembers who made at least one purchase in 2014 willautomatically receive the new plastic in the mail. Your credit card number and the security code on the back will not change. However, if your expiration date is within a 3 year window, your new card will have a new expiration date. So you will need to remember to update any recurring billers, online merchants or digital wallets with the new date. Your old card will still be valid until sometime in early 2016.

Cardmembers who did not use the card to make a purchase in 2014 or became Barclaycard Ring cardmembers in 2015 will not be automatically re-issued the new card design. If you’d like the new card (with Chip technology), you can call the number on the back of your current Ring card after August 1st and request the new card design. Otherwise you can wait until your current card expires and you will automatically receive the new card in the mail. We may also choose to automatically re-issue the cards in the future to cardmembers who still have the original orange card.

Discover just sent me a new chip card recently. Got my original card last September or so.

Well, by coincidence, my SM card was fradulently used today at a Wal-Mart in another state (three times, to be exact). They are overnighting me a new card. Will be curious to see if they are issuing chip cards yet.
