Most expensive credit card purchases?

What has been your most expensive credit card purchase? I'd say furniture and jewelry are common. I've done both of those. I used to use my cards for business so it wasn't uncommon to have some charges in the $20K plus range. For personal use, it would be a lot of electronics at Best Buy. I believe that totalled to about $7500.

My most expensive purchases would have to be home décor, bedding, and furnishings. We just redid 2 bedrooms in the house. There's more to do, but not right now. I'm focused on paying off those purchases.

i actually know someone who has a good paying job above 6 figures; who brought a ring for his wife now, than fiancée, and it was over 10k.

it was unusual for his usual spendage (averages 2-4k a month)

and frankly I'm a bit surprised that folks think a 10k charge is norm because either that person is in debt or has very little stocked away for retirement..I mean I can see a couple hundred out of the US that makes enough to spend that much (on personal not business) a month while not letting other stuff (mortgage, retirement, savings) get away from them

Discover declined my Sears furniture purchase earlier and it was all of $971 lol Sheesh! Fixed the issue within seconds but then had to start over from the Discover Deals link.

Most expensive purchase so far has been $1474, couple sparklies (diamonds), not making this a regular thing just had zero jewelry and wanted some. Outside of occasional travel and furniture purchases my spend is pretty low.

Several in the 3-5k range.. Although normal monthly CC spend is around 2-3k on various things. Not a ton compared to alot here.

The one that pops out as one of the higher one time purchases would be a mattress set my DW and I recently purchased over $1,800. It went on Discover due to the 0% APR into January.

$40k on a brand new Amex Business Plat. I called them ahead of time and knew they wouldn't accept the charge (they weren't going to allow it), so they let me pre-pay by wiring them the money ahead of time.

Since then I haven't had any trouble putting up to $60k on it in a single month. I had a bonus offer of 40k points and I have 380k points now (since last september)... I wonder what my internal limit is!

Def medical stuff on Care Credit. I think $4800 for a family member... on my card

I have never really charged anything huge on a major credit card yet. I still think its cool that I found a car place that will let me put whatever purchase amount I want on as many cards as it takes for only $50. lol.

I dont think I could force myself to spend 7 grand at best buy. Id rather buy a tv for $100-$200 with an extreme deal. Get new computers for $99-$110 as needed.

I guess the most expensive thing I could ever "potentially" see myself buying would be either:

A. Central Air or B. New Roof

Can you imagine....man I would be ELATED if I could somehow in the next 2 years, go on this massive app spree, and get like 5 new cards with 15 grand in minimum spend, find a company that takes credit cards without extra fees, and meet like 5 minimum bonuses at once LOL.

I bought an engagement ring on a CC. It was originally denied and the old machines told the merchant to call a 1-800 number. The CSR asked me a few personal questions then told me that my purchase would be approved.

I should have known that God was trying to tell me something. It was also the worst purchase I made with a credit card.

Most expensive "purchase" recently was $40,000 towards a vehicle. A true test of "Flexible Spending Account" feature of World Elite Mastercard, and Citi's willingness to honor it. Limit at the time was $27,000 on a Citi AA Exec. And yes, I did call them prior to and PIF when the statement cut.

I've wondered if anyone has purchased a car on their card. I've heard that some dealers will only allow up to a certain amount to be charged because they they lose money on the merchant fees. I've done a few big deposits when buying cars. It's been awhile so i don't remember how much. Probably a few thousand.

Notice I said towards. The dealership's hard limit was $40,000 on Credit Card and it had to be approved by the owner. Citi would have approved up to double my credit line.

thats what I thought too, not only bc of fees, but dealers have ended up short a car, and the money, from disputes....I have found most dealers charge 50-100 and dont really care about the swipe fee, they just want to sell a car.

I would prefer at least 12-18 months to pay, so I would want lots of points, then balance transfer. I would mos def need a no BT fee card for this to work...

Ya when I leased my most recent Lexus the dealership would only take up to 2500$ down.. It is hard to find car dealerships that will eat the fee, but they exist. Make no mistake about it, they still are making money meaning you might of got that amount say 40k x 2%(possible swipe fee) = 800$ off in additional negotiations.

I had that car down to the bone for the options it had on it. Also, I've bought a few cars with them before. No additional fee, and I got a free trip to Tokyo out of it. (stack 100K AAExec bonus on top of the 40K)

I am happy with my paid off car. I will drive it until it dies. However, I have a new friends and family discount to take advantage of with any chrysler/jeep/dodge and pairing that with rebates/incentives plus truecar pricing or negotiating, I am very tempted to get a 2nd. As in $32k jeep out the door for $19k....

It wouldnt be for me, it would be a gift and thats what they want...they actually have decent residual values, especially the wranglers and renegades. I am over cars anyway. They are like phones. They are all the same, with their one or two unique features that make them stand out...
