is paypal credit a hard or soft pull during checkout, it's only asking for the last 4 of my social?

Ok cuz I see where some were saying that it was a hard pull, but I never seen a hard pull when only asking for the last 4 of the social

If this is your first time applying for PayPal Credit it could be a HP - it was for me and they only asked for the last 4 of my ss#. But once you get approved for it, then it's only a SP if you ever try to go over your limit.

It's an SP but there are definitely creditors like Comenity that will do a HP from just your last 4. You should always assume a HP whenever applying for credit unless specifically told otherwise and even then it could always result in an HP

I just logged on to my PayPal because I am buying somethig and it gve me the option to apply where the system tries get you approved for PayPal bill me latter mc and if not they try to get you approved for the paypr connect. Is it really a soft pull

They Hp'd me last October when I got it. I didn't think they would cause it only asked for the last 4 of my social, but they did. To be fair though, it was my first Comenity product so that could be why.

It was my first as well. Who knows what they'll do then. Just goes to show that you should always assume the possibility of an HP

I've heard that paypal credit is a HP. Also, I've heard tons of complaints against it, that and it good behavior doesn't contribute to your score at all. A HP and no credit contribution made me avoid it completely.

Alot of people like the hidden TL and that is why I personally got it.. Meaning no other lenders can see if you are carrying a 90% balance and frown upon you for it or take any AA, hence the hidden tradeline concept. With that said it doesn't help your FICO at all, but doesn't hurt it other then the temp sting of the HP.. People with established credit kinda like it for the reason of being hidden or at least quite a few on this forum like it for that reason.

I screwed up there are three different types of PayPal credit. 2 are from synchrony bank which is the MasterCard PayPal plus(best one) and PayPal connect. Both report to all 3 credit bureaus. The third one is PayPal bill me latter which is issued by commenty bank sometimes soft pull and does not report to all three credit bureaus unless account goes to default.

I did not know about the information above and I wanted to apply for the PayPal bil me later and didn't know that there were other types and applied for the wrong one the synchrony MC PayPal plus I was approved np for their MasterCard with SL $1K but am furious for this mistake since I wanted the paypal bill me later. How come nobody and other websites and forums didn't specify the difference!!!!

It gets confusing.. You can have two paypal accounts a business and a personal.. Simply create another paypal account if you want paypal bill me later and attach it to that paypal account one has to be personal and one has to be a business account though. Just a way around it. You will need two checking accounts though as well, which isn't tough for most people.
