Korean air is now a tranfer partner of starpoints from the amex spg card. Previously you could only transfer to that program from Chase URs. Anyone have any experience with korean air? Was wondering if this would be a good use of my starpoints to go from us to japan in first.

Personally I prefer Asiana airline over Korean air, because Asiana's service is much better than Korean air. Plus, the whole Korean air is owned by buncha bats**t insane families and treating their employees like personal slaves (anyone remember macademia nuts incident?).

I believe that woman was forced to resign and went to jail for a year.I don't know how insane the families are, but its among the 20 largest airlines in the world and that is only part of their business, so I won't rule them out based on that. As to Asiana's service being better that could be a valid reason but I have read Asiana is a massive pita to redeem with, it may have gotten better but Korea air has very good availability.

I would also note that korean air recently reduced the fuel surcharges they charge as well, so this is a nice combo of factors. Still don't know if they really fit into my plans though.

I've looked at a few Korean business class redemptions and the redemption rate looked pretty good.

I was looking to go from LA to Sao a Paolo, Brazil in business class and it was around 120k points vs AA who wanted 280k for the same flight basically in business with no saver awards.

i have a ton of AA miles but find that they very rarely have saver level awards available. The standard award redemption for business class on AA is really bad. I have found that United has much more business saver award availability and much better standard award value.
