Just received my Amex BCE

And I have to say, wow what a beautiful card! Looks so much better in person than in pictures or Amex's website. I got denied CLI at activation though Which is not a huge deal, I am glad to be in the door with Amex Green and BCE. I believe I can try again in 90 days correct?

Yep 90 days. And congrats! I got a BCE then a PRG and am liking Amex!

Can I ask, for a CLI in 90 days, does that 90 days apply, after you activate the card, OR after you were approved when applying?

I believe the 90 day wait is for denials, meaning if you got denied for a CLI you have to wait 90 days before trying again. If you get approved for a CLI then you have to wait 6 months. You no longer have to wait 61 days from when you got the card to ask for a CLI.

Congrats to the OP! I'm in almost the exact same situation as you; I was also able to get back "in" with Amex a few months ago.

With me, it was the Green card and the BCP. For what it's worth, they also denied my CLI, but that's OK... we're back in! For my first CLI request the denial was based on my "previous negative experience with American Express" and they didn't even pull my credit. Just a few days ago (92 day mark) I tried again... still no joy. I've not gotten the letter yet with the reason, but this time I was able to see that they did a SP a couple of days after my request, so maybe I'm getting closer... <fingers crossed>.

I got a BCP last week. It's beautiful.

Recently, we went from spending $25/groceries and $2000/month in restaurants ... yes that's TWO THOUSAND, not a typo ... to now we are spending $500/month in groceries and $500/month in restaurants. Saving money, eating healthy, etc. So the 6% on groceries will come in handy.

Also, with the BCP, you should be able to get $200 back via Amex Offers, Amex Checkout, and other Amex perks each year. Normally I'd say $100, but the BCP should give you better and more frequent offers than the lower tier Amex cards or cobranded Amex cards or prepaid Amex cards. In less than a week, I'm already $35 back that were exclusive to the BCP (I have 3 other Amex cc and 1 Amex prepaid).

beauty is in the eye of the beholder, lol personally i like the account the physical card not so much, i always thought it looked like something out of a child's playset and it looks crappy as it ages, its pretty much my everyday card, the top half of the blue scratched up and complety gone in several small spaces, i wonder how its going to fare after the liabilty switch....
