Sure. Maybe you can use it for your monthly bills to increase your usage. I don't advocate spending more to obtain a CLI. It also depends on the type of product you have with Cap 1.

That is the typical response from Cap 1 if you aren't using your card enough for their liking. I always get that response. Cap 1 likes heavy usage or for you to carry a balance. My DH used to get CLIs all the time. He was carrying a large balance which is why I requested a CLI for him right before we PIF his Cap 1 credit card. They increased his CL 3K. Going forward, since he will rarely use the card, I expect he will receive the same message.

Best of luck!!!

This depends on how long you're had the card and how much you use it. Typically yuu can ask for a cli after the 2 month mark. Then it's every 6 months and they don't normally stray from that. If you are using it, keep it up. I have 2 Venture's and right now 3k and 5k on each. Making 1k payments so they know I'm using their cards and paying a bit of interest. I seem to get a good respnse from them this way. I had charged more on each originally but paid them down. Making payments for another month or two. I'm trying to give and maybe I'll get more in return? I'd play around with what you're charging and paying a bit and see what happens. I really like them and I always carry my Venture's.

OP - this took me a long time to comprehend. Everyone has a different experience with CapitalOne.

That reponse you received I have got before, I was not really using the cards that much at the time(S), if at all but at least a small auto payment to them monthly. I can get a cli once a year from that button.

Like others have said, they are not going to give more limit to someone who isnt using the card. But, they will it just takes patience.

I applied for a CLI on my qs silver visa signature. It is a 1 year old and I have not received a CLI on it, even though I spent a lot on it, always made 10 to 12 times more than the minimum payment on it. I hit the button back in may, said minimum payments to low. I was running a 1200 dollar balance on 6k limit at 0 apr till sept 15.

In june i made a big payment. July a big payment. August paid the balance of 1100. Let the statement cut, hit that button and received the 2-3 day. Letter stated, payments are too small. Then 5 minutes later they send me this survey lol.

Just because it's good to have a high limit for util/FICO doesn't mean Capital One has to hand you a high limit.

Anyway, the letter is pretty clear: you aren't using the card enough. Creditors do not simply hand out CLIs. Although usage is not the only factor, it stands to reason that using a card for a pack of gum or some trivial purchase every month is likely not going to get you a CLI. I'm not saying your spend was that low but evidently your usage has been insufficient for a CLI. Use the card as a "daily driver" for a few months and then try again. You are more likely to see success, assuming the rest of your file warrants the CLI.

I am ready to forget about capital one. My card sits at a $3500 CL and is 0 interest, and in october it goes to 24.99%. If they cannot follow through with their promises, I probably will just SD the card. I have moved all general spend to my Double Cash to build a relationship with citi (want a TYP card next year). I have been waiting almost 3 weeks for them to take care of this. They were very understanding with my requests but I am starting to have my doubts.

There are many occasions with couponing with friends where I would love to use my capital one. The rewards show up the next day and that would be better for divying up the bill, rather than waiting a statement cycle with citi.

But as much as I hate capital one, they have been cool to me. They were basically my 2nd major credit card back in december. They bypassed the original credit steps limit. In my mind the CLI will happen on its own, and in october I will send in a message on lowering the APR but I'm not doing that temporary stuff all the time either.

Unfortunately, your account isn't eligible right now. We know this isn't the answer you were hoping for and we want to help you understand why:

· Recent use of this account's existing credit line has been too low

Is there any way to get an increase without going in debt lol?

I have been using Capital One heavy now. Hopefully they will approve me for a CLI soon. I used more then 70% of the credit limit.

How long have you been using the card? Normally cli's come roughly 90 days apart on the cap ones. When was the last time you tried their prequal site. They also.soft pull your CR's every couple of months, checking your credit report activity.
