I requested CLI with Bofa Travel card, but it resulted in moving credit limit from my other card!

Hi there,

Last night I requested CLI on my Bofa Travel Rewards from $5500 to $15000 , I got the 7-10 business day message. This morning I logged in and saw my CL was $11000, I said okay better than nothing, went to check on my Cash Rewards card, for my surprise they DECREASED it from $15000 to $9500, by $5500. Basically they moved credit from 123 card to the Travel card, not so bad, although on the 123 card I have $7500 balance, which will hurt me as utilization. .... I wish I just put everything like it was... what do you guys think? Should I call, or just bite it?

I'd call them and explain your original request again, because obviously they misunderstood. Horror stories like this with BOA are unfortunately common. They just don't have the level of service of some other banks, no matter how high up you go. Just seems like monkeys are running it for the most part. A simple product change takes weeks and weeks to perform. A simple CLI request for you turned into moving limits with no CLI...I'd be annoyed. Call them. You took the HP anyway for the CLI I imagine.

Yes you are right, and I was worried to call and get something even worst. I end up calling, they stated that they were not able to increas the Travel rewards card because it's new, and yes it is about less than 2 months. I end up requesting to put it back like it was. I can live the the HP .....

I'd be really annoyed by that too. That is something you have to ask me if I wanted to do becauase you wouldn't give me additional credit. Don't move my credit lines without telling me first. again, I'd be super annoyed by that.

They should have asked you if it was OK to move the limit from your other card to this new card if the request was not going to be honored. Sorry about the hardpull.

I opened my Travel rewards and BBR on the same day. 2 mo this later I did cli

trvel went from $2k to $15 (got full request)

bbr br went from $10k to $12k

then called back a week later to a csr to move $5k from BBR over to travel card.

she said the computer said an analyst had to make the changes and would take 3 days to do.

3 days later , my travel card was $20k and BBR is $7k now..,

its really a YMMV !!!!

Couldnt you keep the transfer of CL the way it is and ask for an increase on the one that went down since the other one was too new (2 months) to get an increase on?

or am I reading it wrong?
