This question is asked a lot, so it's strange nothing came up on search, but...

They did away with the "61 day thing" awhile ago. You can ask at any point, and be approved or declined. If approved, 180 days is the waiting period for the next potential CLI. If declined, try again in 90 days.

I did a quick search but couldn't find what I was looking for. I thought I read on here awhile ago that Amex did away with their 61 day waiting period for a CLI, is this true? I have a new account I was going to immediately hit the CLI button for but wanted to check here first.

Gives them a chance to see your spend and payment patterns.

I previously had another BCE and ED, I closed the accounts because they wouldn't increase my limits. My limits were 1k each card, the BCE account I opened tonight was 3.5k.

I'm only interested in asking for a CLI because I do so with every new account I open. I have to wait to get the card first because I need the code on the front, but I'm at least glad they gave me a decent starting limit compared to the limits they gave me before.

I was like . What the hell. finally i just put it in SD. after another 6 months of gathering dust. i called em. They raised it $200. im like Damn. $800 limit. This was 4 months ago. The Current limit is now $10k. so after just giving it time any card will grow is the point im conveying. Congrats again on the new bce. Don't close if they don't give you 10k.
