Why Do You Love AmEx?

With all of the negative Amex posts over last several weeks, I decided to create a new thread so others can share their good experiences with them. These are the reasons I consider AmEx to be a first-rate CCC:

1.) #1 Rewards Program

2.) Generous CLIs

3.) #1 Customer Service, never have to sit on hold longer than 30 seconds

4.) They go out of their way to please, i.e., releasing points earned before they're suppose to when you really need em

I second that they are number 1 in my list of cc I almost forgot the best concierge service available in my opinion

LOL! Maybe you should put a hyphen between the thumbs up and the Amex part. Read so much Amex bashing lately that I read that totally wrong

Brammy, you are too funny . I read the same thing i think. "The Thumbs Up AmEx's A**... I mean Thread"

I love AmEx. I must agree that they have the best service by for. Although, Amex has been exceptionally good to me since i got my CC. After i got a 17K CLi i noticed a much better treatment at the brenches, accounts upgraded to "Premium" an lots of new benefits and fees waived because of that.

Lets hear more.

Ditto to all. Their cust. service is supreme. I can't even begin to go on how much I treasure good customer service, as I spent most of my years until 4 years ago in some form of direct retail and customer service- still work w/ customer service but at a call center- so now you know how picky I am.

Their cust. service is so much a cut above the rest.

Another example- when they just made a cardmember agreement change about how they don't really want you to make the min payment for most of the time- they BOLDED it and explained it very clearly. I have never paid min on them anyway, but this way I know, and I know cuz they made it so obvious on the billing statement that you couldn't miss it.

I have not experienced it yet, but I hear they are awesome when their is fradulant activity on the account. Hope it never happens, but am glad they are good if it does.

For those of you with more than one Amex CC, which one is your favorite and why? For me it's my Gold Rewards Plus, currently earning 2 points for every $1 spent with Amex partnered companies. I'm just racking up the points and converting them into Continental FF miles. YAY!

have to reply about my babies! I love AMEX. Customer service is awesome. Heck even the folks I dealt with for my FR was good.

I have talked my husband into getting his own AMEX. He had to apply for the Delta Gold and called to day to convert to a Blue Cash!

I have 5 cards as most of you know because of my frequent post about AMEX. I can't say which one I like more. I received the gold rewards card about a month ago. I am using the hell out of that card! Double rewards. But it's me and the blue as well.

When I want to feel important, I whip out my Optima Plat The only plat card without fees.

AMEX gives the best credit line increases in the business! I enjoy my relationship with them.

I hope to see $30K on one of my cards. I am pretty darn close. I don't know many cards that give you $3K or $6K CLI or even more at one time

You can get the monster CLI's from superior credit unions without all the drama. Wish all of you luck with your AMEX cards. When they love you they love you.

I have got the Amex Platinum Charge and the Amex Blue Cash.

I use both of them all the time and run about 10K/month between the two and pay in full. While I am using Blue Cash for the 5% Cash back, I am yet to figure out why i have the Platinum (Status Maybe?). Begining next year my wife and I will start touring the world, maybe i will find out why it exists then .

Blue Cash is #1 for now.

I carry the gold and the clear card. I love them both. A few weeks ago a close relative passed away and I had to make arrangements to fly back home for the funeral. I usually do all my booking on-line myself, but this was going to take some phone calls (pricing the airlines bereavement discounts). I did not have the time to do this because I was at work. Called Amex and they handled everything for me. I did not have to do anything but tell them which flight I wanted. Anytime I have ever disputed a charge, they have been great to deal with. When I got in financial trouble due to a job loss and had a charge off with them, they came back to me a couple of years later and offered me the Oasis Program and now we are back in love with each other. What other company would do that? Amex is the best!

I love Amex for two reasons mostly! 1 - great customer service 2 when my laptop broke, after a fall, after having it only 45 days, Amex covered the $800 repair, since i paid with my Amex .....this amazed me and saved me big bucks!

I only received the AMEX Blue this month. On my online statement they have a button where I can apply for the Blue Cash since I am already a cardmember. Is it worth it to have Blue and Blue Cash? I don't know that there's that much difference - am I wrong?

There are some differences between Blue and Blue Cash.

1.) With the Blue Cash your charges at grocery stores, gas stations, pharmacies and some utilities can earn you up to 5% cash back. This is not the case for Blue.

2.) For the Blue, Intro rate of 0% for up to 15 months (depending on your credit rating may be fewer months). Blue Cash intro rate of 0% but for only up to 5 months.

3.) Blue Cash account cannot be enrolled in Amex's membership rewards program, while Blue can.

4.) Both cards have different APR tiers (decided by your credit rating):

Blue Cash: 13.24%, 15.24%, 18.24%

Blue: 12.24%, 14.24%, 17.24%, 19.24%

Both CCs have no AF and of course are revolving.
