I was browsing the Citi site today and noticed that you can apply online now for a secured card. In the past I know you had to apply in branch only, Just an FYI to anyone interested.

I reviewed the secured card on Citibank's site and the one thing I didn't see mentioned was graduating to unsecured. I know it used to. They indicate the security deposit goes into an 18 month CD, which is the same, but interesting that there's no mention of graduation. I suspect it does.

Yeah I'm not sure whether it does or not, I wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't though. if it does unsecure though, I imagine it would be a standard no rewards card, not sure if you could pc it, but it's a good way to build a relationship with citi though.

Citibank secured card does graduate.

Mine turns 18 months this month and I got a letter from them saying that they are sending the collateral back.

Just curious not that I want to apply for citi, but say for a friend, if they get denied for say the double cash card can citi turn around and inquire about the secured card to the member and use the same HP?

Hi Ch7, I had put in 1k when I opened the CD.

And one more thing, I was able to speak about the secured card during recon which led a denial turn to an approval for the simplicity. 21 months 0% but they lowballed me with 900 i think if i had put more for the secured, i wud hav got more. I was aiming at 5k atleast.

Was planning to buy a tag heuer if i got a good limit but

Hi Racer, no clue abt whethr thts possible but one thing is for sure. Citi just loves increasing inq on ur file unlike chase or boa. So i doubt they wil play withthe same inq, but not sure.

I was denied for the dc card a week ago. After reading UR post I called the eo office and asked to be reconsidered for the dc and if not to be considered for the secured to get my foot in with them. The lady said they would use the same pill and she will get back to me after Labor Day. I also told her I will accept a low limit dc card just to prove myself to them. I'll update when I kno more.

Hi All, just got approved for the Citi Secured card. Does any one know if you can add additional funds at a later date to increase the credit line?

My brother recently applied for this card. He was denied as he prev included CITI in BK 2002-$1500. They have a long memory so if you have ever filed BK and included them in it you may be declined. Otherwise it is 2 yrs post BK. 18 months good payment hx they will return your deposit.

I am wondering the same thing. I would love to add a few hundred a month. Can you add after opening? They just took the $200 out of my account today for the secured card opening deposit.

I can't speak from experience but there was a recent thread that said citi was less than helpful in answering the OP's question about adding additional funds to their cards limit. In the end I believe the answer was no. The limit you start with, is the limit you are stuck with. Of course this could change and could be wrong depending on who you talk to at citi, Good Luck.
