I called Comenity this morning to speak with a representative. I told them that I had considered asking for a CLI on a couple of my cards. I told them I had heard there was a new policy regarding CLI's. I said I had heard now they require hard pulls vs soft pulls in the past. The representative confirmed that they do hard pulls now and that it was a new policy. I asked if we would still get cli's automatically, he said yes.
I will no longer be requesting any cli's on any of my comenity cards😢

I honestly don't think that CSR knew what he was talking about OP.. Business as usual with comedity via Luv button.. Sure you could be hit by a HP, but when you request credit expect it, but they usually don't do it unless you speak with a representative. I trust my dog that she won't eat a steak I leave on the coffee table while I leave the room more than the knowledge of their CSR's.

Really I find it interesting there have been so many threads about this lately. It boils down to very simple advice. Comenity has historically been SP for CLIs and for some/most people, it seems SP continues through the increase button or "robot lady", but if you talk to a CSR you get a HP.

With any credit seeking, you should expect a HP as they have permission to do it, whether it's typically done or not. So hitting the "luv button" 5 times a week is probably not a good idea.

But why people are making this more complex than it really is, I don't know. Trusting a Comenity CSR is a waste of time. They are a huge, and very disorganized, company where person A doesn't know what person B is doing. Even calling to ask them is a waste of time. Just accept that a HP is possible with the CLI request and if you still want to move forward, press the button. That's all there is to this.

I will no longer be requesting any cli's on any of my comenity cards😢

again...the CSR rep dont have a clue. I just requested a CLI on all 12 of my Comenity CC's, and guess what? NO HP! I would take what a CSR says with a grain of salt.

Now..if the rep on the phone tells you he needs to pull a NEW credit report, then its up to you to decide if you want to risk the rep actually being right this time. FYI...I called in on one of mine last week, rep told me they need to pull my credit, I said DO IT! I got my increase, and of course no HP. They may be told to say that now, who knows. I also pulled my reports here at FICO, and the CRA's to confirm this theroy that has everyone panicking.....and no HP's.

With any luck this will truly be the new policy with SP Auto CLI being confered upon those whom are truly in necessity of due to being limited by their credit limit when shopping.

This is why when I give information on this forum I always present it as my own personal experience - basically just a data point - but never as stone-cold 'fact'.

I enjoy reading about other's experiences, and I truly appreciate advice and data points on different experiences, but I occasionally get put off when people speak in absolutes or try to present their personal opinion as fact.

Just my 2¢. In keeping with the spirit of my post, YMMV in how useful it is to you.
