Capital one cli and upgrade

So I've been reading forum for several months now and decided to share my experience with capital one here. Around a year ago i started rebuilding my credit. My friend added me as an AU to her amex card and i was approved for VS card via shopping card trick for 250 limit. So in may while checking creditkarma I saw that I had a fair chance for QS1, applied and got approved for a 300 limit, enrolled in credit steps. After that received 3 mail offers in less than 2 weeks to apply for platinum mastercard, which i did ( 500 limit in credit steps). I've been using both cards a lot, running a little over my credit limits every month and making several payments a month. A week ago (haven't even had 3rd statement) decided to try the love button, both cards approved (QS1 for extra 500 and platinum for 1000), took the platinum increase, but not the QS1. Couple of days later thought 'hey, wouldn't it be nice to have some rewards on it too...', so at 11 pm (yes, I'm weird like that) hit the chat with capital one...After telling that I would love to upgrade my platinum card to maybe QS, waiting for couple of minutes and being transfered to chat with supervisor to my surprise I was approved for an upgrade to QS with no AF! Have not received my new card yet, but cashback is already rolling.

I've had my platinum card with them for a few years and I've been trying to PC it to a QS for a while...but the answer is always no. At least this last time they lowered the APR for 7 months. But that doesn't really do me any good when I don't even use it since I have a QS and Venture.

If in 7 months I still can't PC it, I guess I'll just try to consolidate it with my existing QS.

Try emailing the EO and asking for it. I did that about a year ago, and while they didn't necessarily agree to the full PC (I was asking for Platinum to Venture since I already have a QS), they did agree to put the Venture rewards on the Platinum. It's not 100% the same as a PC to Venture, but the rewards are and that was the main thing I wanted. You may want to try that if the main thing you want is to upgrade it to a rewards status. I don't use the card everyday, but rather just set all my monthly bills to auto pay off that card, so I get 2 miles/dollar on all the bills I pay every month anyway.
