Question regarding store cards

Hi everyone, just a question about store issued cards (not master cards, visa or Amex). Are balance typically able to be transferred to a major CC? My wife has roughly 4,000 on a store card that's at its limit with very high interest and she just received a new Cap 1 card with 0% on balance transfers until 2016.

This should work as long as it isn't the issuing bank for the store card I would think correct? Any info is greatly appreciated.

Yes on both counts. I did a BT from a Walmart SC to my Discover without a hitch--just have a statement handy since the BT might need an address for your creditor for the card you're transferring from (and you'll need the full account number). Anyhow, as long as you're transferring between different banks, I don't see an issue.

Yes!! I've successfully transferred balances from my Overstock and Care Credit cards over to major creditors.
